Hello everyone,
I have had a couple of times a problem, with specifically one agency, to pay me even though I have worked with the agency before and then all of a sudden they just stopped to pay and not answering now any communication and not paying.
I feel the amount they owe (€1,340) is not that much to argue about perhaps, but it is money earned and should be paid. I have tried everything I think, exept for taking legal action against them, but it is such a sma... See more Hello everyone,
I have had a couple of times a problem, with specifically one agency, to pay me even though I have worked with the agency before and then all of a sudden they just stopped to pay and not answering now any communication and not paying.
I feel the amount they owe (€1,340) is not that much to argue about perhaps, but it is money earned and should be paid. I have tried everything I think, exept for taking legal action against them, but it is such a small amount that it would cost so much more to just hire a lawyer...
So I thought I'd pose this question here.
Any thoughts anyone or any good, successful ideas out there?
Thank you. ▲ Collapse | | | Maya M Fourioti Greece Local time: 19:32 Member (2010) English to Greek + ... Proz.com the only solution | Nov 4 |
Dear colleague,
Whenever I faced problems with non-payers offering projects via proz, I reported them to proz.com. In almost every single case, I was paid the money owed and non-payers banned from BB. What is also important is that they do not carry on this dishonest behaviour. Someone has to stop them. PROZ can.

I must say that Proz staff has been very helpful every time I have submitted a non-payment report (two or three cases), and I got paid in a few days. Send all the proof you have (emails exchanged and/or PO, invoice(s), etc.) with your non-payment report. | | | Barbro Andersson United States Local time: 09:32 Member (2019) English to Swedish + ... Appreciate your answers to the both of you. I did put in a report, but I should have submitted also all the emails with it. Thank you both, good information.

In the UK there is a Small Claims Court that you can use for cases like this. Is something like that an option where you are? The amount might be enough to chase if there is a straightforward (and therefore cheap) way of doing it.
Sometimes the threat of legal action is enough to get things moving. | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 17:32 Member (2008) Italian to English

Thank you.
I've been having a similar problem with an agency in Rome, who owe me approximately the same amount as the amount you are owed.
When they stopped responding to my emails, I identified a lawyer in Rome, and put him on the case. It isn't about the money; it's about seeing justice done.
He has applied to the court for an injunction, which will force the agency to pay.
I will get the full amount I am owed and the lawyer can keep the rest, which I imagine will be substantial.
Unfortunately, the justice system in Rome is just as slow as the system in the UK, and it will be months before I see any money.
But I can wait, enjoying the wait. | | | Joakim Braun Sweden Local time: 18:32 German to Swedish + ... Small claims procedure | Nov 4 |
There'll be one in your jurisdiction, and the odds are good that it's neither difficult nor expensive. | | | Barbro Andersson United States Local time: 09:32 Member (2019) English to Swedish + ... TOPIC STARTER
Thank you so much for all your good advice. Great to know and I will pursue one of these avenues. I will try to get PROZ.COM help first and look into the injuncture court if necessary.
Thank you all again.
Much love,
