Food prices at Shanghai Disneyland give early visitors heartburn
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-shanghai-disney-food-adv-snap-story.html
Yang Tianjiao, a graduate student at the Shanghai East China University of Science and Technology, said she heard about the high prices of food at Disneyland, so she brought boxed food to eat inside the park.
“I saw my friend eating lunch served by Disneyland — and a plate of rice with pork chops cost her 90 yuan” or around $14, Yang said. Her almost-identical boxed food was only about $5.

According to the spokesman for Shanghai Disney Resort, the resort seems to be dedicated to serving "middle-class Chinese consumers" and richer people only.
At a news conference in Shanghai on Thursday, Shanghai Disney Resort spokesman Murray King said that tickets are the cheapest among all Disney parks around the world and affordable for middle-class Chinese consumers.

From the report "Food prices at Shanghai Disneyland give early visitors heartburn":
An article headlined “The first group of Shanghai Disneyland visitors have wept to the point of fainting inside the park, because it’s too expensive” went viral on WeChat, a Chinese messaging platform.
Isn't that being a bit melodramatic? I wonder how the headline truly read in its original Chinese.
Thinking back to the old days, the food at 石舫, for example, in Beijing's Summer Palace was also not that great yet marked up quite a bit.
Unlike at the supermarkets, hot dogs easily sell for $5 apiece in the crowded stands of a baseball game.
My guess is food provided at major tourist attractions is mainly to tide over the hunger for hungry tourists; it's not designed to be an all-out dining experience.

Steve,
旅游景点、机场、车站、码头的物价自然会比其他地方高一些,但 “a plate of rice with pork chops cost her 90 yuan or around $14” 确实是超过了国际水平。

http://news.qq.com/a/20160616/036051.htm
'Rarest' South China floods leave 100 dead, cause $5.6b loss

Failure to meet standards
More than 300 of China's 657 cities fail to reach the national standards for flood prevention in urban areas, and more than 90 percent of older urban areas don't even meet the lowest criteria for flood prevention, according to Zhang. "Urban flooding will only get more serious if we continue to ignore the construction of drainage systems and sewers," he said.

Steve,

Yueyin,
I agree with you. Their food prices are indeed too high.
I wouldn't want to spring for an expensive meal of mediocre quality like that if I didn't have to either. Heck, I usually don't even buy popcorn when I go to the movies - No high-priced gouging for this "informed" consumer.

Movie Theaters Make 85% Profit at Concession Stands

QHE,
Thanks for the great detective work.
Armed with this new information, I would blame it mainly on the bad translation which didn't take into account the humor involved (in the original headline). Of course, I had to look up the meaning/origin of "哭晕在厕所" to get it myself.
