It was really sad to see from the video that a white SUV was swept away by flood but bystanders couldn't get any chance to help while watching and screaming. According to another news report, the driver, a 79-year-old lady, died and her body was found hours later in her SUV.
I am very glad to hear that you are okay. The weather in Colorado is also abnormal this year. We even had a quite big snow on the eve of the Mother's day!

Hays County was hit hard by heavy rain last night. Hundreds of homes in Wimberley and San Marcos got damaged by flood water along the Blanco River. Here in Austin nothing significant happened, except for some power outages which I only read about.
The abundant rain this year might be the effects of El Niño.

Most likely, I was wrong. According to an eye-witness who uploaded the footage of the incident, the driver was rescued from his vehicle unharmed. I am glad the driver is still alive. It's really a miracle. Apparently, many people at the scene attempted to rescue the driver in spite of the great danger involved. I think their efforts finally paid off.

Eyewitness videos show the surge of flood water catching the white SUV, and flipping it upside down at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort and Spa near Boerne, Texas, on Saturday. A witness who uploaded footage of the incident said the driver was rescued from his vehicle unharmed.
The death of the 79-year-old lady I mentioned above could be another incident. It's still a tragedy, though.

I am quite familiar with that area. When I go to UT-Austin, I often take North Lamar Boulevard and then get on the ramp towards the 15th street. However, I've never imagined that this section of North Lamar Boulevard would virtually become part of the Shoal Creek!

Lake Travis rises 20 feet in 7 days

Lake Travis was approaching 654 feet above mean sea level early Tuesday morning, 20 feet above where it was just seven days ago — a rise of nearly 25 feet this month. The 654 feet is the highest since May 2011, up 6 feet in 24 hours and 21 feet in a week. Since the beginning of the year, Lake Travis has risen 31 feet.
The Lower Colorado River Authority expects the lake to continue rising in the coming weeks as high inflows from Hill Country creeks and rivers continue.
In the last few weeks, Travis County Parks officials have reopened some boat ramps along the lake as water levels continue to rise. According to the LCRA’s boat ramp information page, five more ramps could soon open if lake levels reach the projected mark of 656 feet.

Regional water officials say that with Saturday’s heavy rainfalls, the Austin-area water supply — like the proverbial glass — is now half-full.
Rainfall that transformed the Pedernales River from a rivulet to raging waterway is draining into the Higland Lakes, including Lake Travis, which has risen 8 feet, with more to come. When Travis is combined with Lake Buchanan, the other half of the two-body main reservoir, the lakes will be at 50 percent capacity, said John Hofmann, executive vice president of water for the Lower Colorado River Authority.
“Generally speaking, we’re better off than we’ve been in a long, long time,” Hofmann said. But, he added, even two years of rainfall has not gotten the region out of a drought — really, more of a water-supply shortage created by the drought that peaked in 2011.
“It’s a testament to how far behind we were that we still haven’t caught up,” Hofmann said. “At this point, it’s more of a hydrological drought than what you think of with things like an agricultural drought. We’re having a water-supply issue.”
At the peak of the drought, lakes Buchanan and Travis were 32 percent full. Hofmann said this year’s rains helped to start to replenish them. But in a measure of how severe the supply shortage had grown, the “Sometimes Islands” — which used to disappear on a regular basis — have remained a peninsula.
Still, Lake Travis is now up 12 feet since May 20 and 22 feet since the start of the year, Hofmann said. The occasional ’70s-era pull-tab beer cans that surfaced as the waters receded are probably again submerged. Video footage shows the islands finally once again becoming an archipelago.
