I'm fact I'll celebrate it with a big powwow on October 4th! I'm organizing it, and I'm very exited! I'm very happy being a translator, thus I consider it is a great day to celebrate. I've even hired a great group of Latin music!
Regards

Does translating count? | Sep 29, 2008 |
I'll be translating on Translator's Day (me and everyone else here I bet!). Does that count as a celebration?

This is the first I've heard of such a day. But as it is, I will be working as always, from dawn till dusk.

Hi All,
We also celebrated Translator's Day in La Plata with a very nice powwow. http://www.proz.com/powwow_report/2158
As part of this poll, it may be interesting to share whether you observe this date in a special way (send emails, texts or greeting cards to your colleagues, get together in a powwow, etc.) or if it is just a day like any other day.

I'm a Translation and Interpreting student though.
Last year I celebrated by watching some TV in German and translating something (from English into Italian) to do some practice (not at the same time!).
This year I'll be proofreading a translation I've done for my BA thesis. Maybe I'll be doing some interpreting practice by translating the debate between Barack Obama and John McCain.
Happy Translator's Day everyone!... See more I'm a Translation and Interpreting student though.

Actually, tomorrow is a holiday here. Like all religious holidays related to Albania's 4 official religions, this is a day off in my country. As you can easily imagine multiplying "n holidays per religion" by 4, we have a lot of days off here:).

I said 'no' but... | Sep 29, 2008 |
... I might just have a glass of wine to celebrate (on my own - how sad!)
No matter how.... | Sep 29, 2008 |
...we should each give a bit of time to ourselves and just make an inventory of how we all came to be Translators.
CONGRATS TO ALL OF US !!!!

In the same way I celebrate Mother's Day by mothering!
I'm not celebrating officially tomorrow, but I will raise a glass to all my colleagues on Wednesday - after meeting a deadline, naturally.
Cheers!

I'm inspired | Sep 29, 2008 |
Your answers inspired me: I will devote a big chunk of time to finalizing my website. It's already up and running, but it needs a lot of tweaking.
By the way, working on my website I discovered that St. Jerome is also the patron saint of the year 2008. If you haven't searched for images of him, there's an amazing array of portraits of him.

Muriel said St. Jerome, that famous translator of the Bible, is patron saint for this year. How neat!
