As I had already accepted the project, I did as requested although after two rounds of changed requirements I did tell the client I did not intend to keep their deadlines anymore. The project ended up costing a lot more time than it should have, if the client had decided and then clearly indicated what was expected from the start.

That particular translation coordinator and end client are now on my black list.
This year was very slow, but a lot less frustrating. ▲ Collapse | | | Other (a mixed bag) | Apr 30, 2020 |
Better financially because I’m invoicing now a long project that kept me busy during March and the first week of April. Much quieter because the last fortnight of the month was quiet as quiet can be… | | | Michael Harris Germany Local time: 15:14 Member (2006) German to English Down down down | Apr 30, 2020 |
It is a heck of a lot quieter compared to last year.
I hope that things will pick up in the middle / at the end of May!

A little quieter | Apr 30, 2020 |
According to my time recording system, I had 133 hours of billable work in April 2019. In April 2020, it was 116 hours so far (but some more hours will be added today). So it was a little quieter, but not much. | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 15:14 Spanish to English + ... About the same | Apr 30, 2020 |
Without looking to check, it feels about the same. I was expecting to have less work due to the quarantine situation, but it turns out I've got enough to keep me going until well into May. With the universities and similar institutions being closed, a lot of the staff are finding time to dig out old projects that have been on the backburner for a while, which is good news for me in terms of revision/post editing and translations. | | | Yolande Hivart Austria Local time: 15:14 Member (2016) German to French Picking up now | Apr 30, 2020 |
I was worried for the month of April but I have been quite busy this week.
It seems that even if some branches of the economy are suffering, offices are starting to reopen and since the loosing of the lockdown, people are starting to get optimistic when it goes to shopping. | | | Kevin Fulton United States Local time: 09:14 German to English About the same | Apr 30, 2020 |
Apart from a nervous 36 hours at the start of the month and the last two days of nerve-shattering silence from my clientele, my workload was steady all month; I even worked on a couple of rainy weekends.

About the same. | | |
I know this answer immediately because I did a spreadsheet comparison between Q2 2019 and Q2 2020. Over the past two months, business dropped 20% - which may be a bit skewed since last year I had a huge project. All in all, I’m satisfied. Starting this week, however, I began to notice that
business had begun to pick up again. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: In comparison to last year, work-wise, my April was... Pastey | Your smart companion app
