I'm currently translating software strings for my EDI client, which I've been doing for about 20 years now. However, they are often a bugger to deal with because there is usually a glaring lack of useful context to guide my decisions and there are always things cropping up which require feedback from the client, or someone who knows what things like arcane abbreviations stand for, or whether they should be translated or left as they are, which can vary depending on which country or client compan... I'm working on two jobs that are not common for me, which I don't like very much, but in the situation we are right now, refusing jobs is not advisable.
One is a subtitling job, something I usually avoid. Most of the subtitles have three lines in Portuguese and it's not humanly possible to reduce them to two lines, as the client wants. I know this will be trouble.
