If you are a translator, you are a craftsman, using tools like AI etc.
If you are a post-editor, some else uses the tools and you become a skilled worker. This is why many collegues who have known the job before post-editing find no fun in postediting and do something else.

What is the point of 'full' MTPE these days? Jul 16

When there a variety of AI tools at a translator's disposal should he or she wish to use them? Unless the client outright bans the use of any AI tool (which is becoming much more rare these days as it doesn't make much sense), then how does providing an output dump from DeepL help the translator save time? It only makes sense if the job is a 'light' post-edit, in which case maybe 60-70% of the rate might be fair (but unless the text is quite formulaic the additional cost of full translation will...
