I would continue to be polite and kind and, with the aim of showing that we should always treat everyone well because we are a community.

I’m not going to delve into details, but the person in question was really offensive not only to me, but also to the moderator and to others in between. Her actions resulted in an eight-day suspension.

Maria Teresa I'm just wondering whether Proz's reaction was sufficient for you? I hope you still feel safe here!

No, ignoring is not enough. If insults are allowed, the bully might be emboldened to go further. You may not be aware but women are harassed a lot on Internet, far more than men, and it is not acceptable here any more than in real life. And this stuff does sometimes spill over into real life. We are posting here with our real names, making us easy to find. And even for those posting under obviously fake names, why should they be subjected to insults? Maria Teresa posts here regularly and has always been polite and kind, she does not deserve to be insulted and such behaviour is not worthy of a professional forum. Women need to feel safe on professional and other websites.

May I ask what happened? Aug 12

I admit that I had never thought about it, but a recent incident forced me to think about it, and so I proposed this Quick Poll. In my case, I used all of the above.
Did someone abuse and threaten you in private messages? Why on Earth did it come to that? Is it someone new? I do apologise if I'm too nosy, please feel free to tell me to mind my own business. I'm surprised that someone would target you in this way!
