Powwow on Friday June 8th: Wine Tasting? May 6, 2012

I think that a nice way of discovering a country's culture is to taste and understand its wines and its food. That's why I'd like to propose a wine tasting as the Friday evening powwow.

The tasting would last for an hour and a half and it would include a cava (Catalan champagne), two red wines and two withe wines. Also, there would be some tapas for dinner. The price is 25€ per person.

We need a group of minimum 20 people in order to open a group, so I would like to know

Therefore, if you are interested, please contact me at patriciatranslator@gmail.com as soon as possible and let me know.

Powwow confirmed! May 8, 2012

Hello all,

I have booked the wine tasting since there are already 20 people interested.

My worries now are that there might be too many people interested and there is a maximum of 38 people who can do it...

I will offer a place to those people who write to me or e-mail me and once we reach 38 I will have to close the group. If that happens, we can organise something else for those people who didn't get a place and then all meet after the tasting.

How does that sound?

Please, feel free to make comments and/or suggestions.

Alcohol-free wine tasting? May 8, 2012

Hi Patricia,

no chance to give the alcohol a miss, then?

No alcohol May 8, 2012

Hello Iolanda and everyone else,

I have spoken to the person in charge and she has told me that those of you who don't drink alcohol can pay half the price.

However, I can only accept a limited amount of people paying half price, because otherwise it would not be profitable for her.

For the moment, there is you and Sameh Ragab who will not be drinking alcohol, and maybe Allison Klein?

Thank you!

Patricia

... and once sold-out, what about the after-winetasting-party ? May 8, 2012

Dear Patricia and all,

As you mentioned, we can meet somewhere else after that wine tasting party, so maybe it would be wise to decide right now where this will be to let people who won't go to the first part of the evening (because arriving later, or because there is no more room at that place, etc...) to know where to meet the crowd afterwards.

Maybe even, the easiest, would be to launch yet another powwow for people to stay tuned on that one and be able to register separately.

And then, there is still yet another one or two to plan, for Sunday and maybe even Monday nights, right ?

See you soon,

Martin

Possible change of plans May 8, 2012

Dear all,

Some of you have contacted me saying that it would be a good idea to do something that would accommodate us all, and I think you're right. It would be a shame to leave people out of this powwow.

I think that what I'm going to do is look for a bar with enough space for everyone and try to book it for us for a few hours so that we can drink and talk and get to know each other. We'll leave the wine tasting for another occasion!

Thank you all!

good idea Patricia! May 9, 2012

I think in the past, people (organizers) have waited a little bit to see how many people were interested in going to a powwow, and then they book a place - maybe people such as Daniela Zambrini and others that have organized recent conferences might have tips on the logistics of that? Having never organized any event, I have no clue about this, but I hope you can find a way to make it easier on yourself! Sorry, just trying to be helpful!
Good luck!

THANK YOU! May 9, 2012

Thank you Allison and Maya, and everyone who has written to me theses days!

I have spoken to Daniela, I am lucky I can count on her expertise, she is helping me a lot!

I am looking for places that we can have for ourselves on the Friday 8th to have dinner and drinks at a reasonable price. I will let you know the details later on.

But as you say, I need to know an exact number of people at the end of May, the sooner the better, so that I can book a place big

Please tell everyone you know who is coming to the conference to sign in at the powwow and confirm their attendance as soon as possible.

I will keep you all posted.

I'm sure we'll have lots of fun!

Patricia

Great, thanks for all the efforts Patricia May 17, 2012

Dear Patricia,

I know how it is to organize such a huge conference and my heart is with you all the way. We all appreciate the great efforts you exert to make everyone happy and to create a memorable event. We look forward to our reunion there. All I can assure you is that my session will be full of excellent information that shall open doors for every one attending, beginners and advanced alike. I hope you manage to arrange for a Wireless Headset Microphone to allow those like me who are giving practical workshops to move easily and interact with participants. I am bringing my own pointer (presenter) by the way, and the others can use it if they want. Just please try to avail couple of good batteries (remote control batteries), in case other speakers want to use it. I am sure the technical people at the hotel will know better and easily provide for such a microphone.

Again and again, thanks for all the help and magnificent effort you input to our conference. We have every reason to believe the conference will be a great success. May God bless you.

Sincerely,

Sameh
