Powwow: Toronto - Canada
|
Get-together in the New Year | Dec 12, 2011 |
Open to suggestions for a venue: The Keg (on Jarvis) (tested and nice but a bit loud - and not super-convenient for Transit) Peridot (Yonge/Bloor) Fine for groups up to 14-16 Le Marché (difficult to book tables in advance, food quality modest - and not cheap) The Madison pub (too loud for my taste)
Tell me what you think - there's plenty of time to decide.
Baldwin Street? | Dec 21, 2011 |
Great idea, thanks for putting together!
How about somewhere on Baldwin Street, say Bodega (nice, but pricey), Elle M'a Dit or one of the other places. It's central and easy to access from St Patrick's station, with street parking as well...

I found the Peridot to be quite good and accessible for subway people at least.

Hi, there!
I would love to get together and meet you all in a nice place but also the average price of the whole evening can be a little turn off if it is more than $25.
That is why I suggest the Hemingway, in Yorkville. At the back of the main floor the atmosphere is nice, food is good and fairly priced, and it has a subway exit right in front of it.
What do you guys think? | | |
I don't know Hemingway's | Jan 2, 2012 |
I did however have a look at the meny (pretty meat-centric)
Soups are from around $4.30-5.70 Snacks from $5.50 -8 Burgers $11.50-14 Main courses $14-17 Which is not bad. However, the Yelp review says it is loud - something that isn't ideal.
The Peridot is in the foolowing price range: Soup $6 Snacks $ 7-10 Pasta $14-18 Entrees $13-28

It's your call guys, I'm open to any suggestion. ▲ Collapse

I agree that above $25 is a turn-off. I am vegan but would be happy with just a big salad and drink. Somewhere close to the subway or easily accessible please.

Hi everybody!
Where will be the dinner then? Any decitions? I am also half vegan. Kaysha, I am with you!
Your last email notification (dated today) didn't include any details on location, perhaps it would be a good idea to update everyone? Unless I'm completely out of the loop and missed the announcement.

Kaysha Valen (X) Canada English to Japanese + ... location, time, fee | Jan 10, 2012 |
Yes, I'm lost too....where is the final info on the location, time and fee?
I'll book a table tomorrow after checking two extra locations | Jan 10, 2012 |
I'm gathering from what I read that the price point is an issue for a lot of people, so I'm looking for somewhere slightly cheaper than the Peridot, but need to confirm the location tomorrow.
There is no fee - people order what they want (no meal requirement), even just a drink. The start time is generally 6:30 or 7 p.m. Which do you prefer?
Looking forward to it. | Jan 10, 2012 |
I plan on being there. Thanks for organizing this, Hege!
