Source text - Portuguese Este workshop foi absolutamente fundamental para o estabelecimento do programa de pesquisa em biodiversidade da Amazônia ou PPBIO, principalmente porque tudo o que foi estabelecido pelos diversos pesquisadores especialistas cada um nas suas áreas, tudo esse material acabou servindo como base para o estabelecimento do programa pelo ministério da ciência e da tecnologia, envolvendo inicialmente duas das suas instituições: o museu paraense Emilio Goeldi e o INPA, instituto nacional de pesquisas da Amazônia. O PPBIO tem como base fundamental o estabelecimento de uma rede de pesquisas sobre a biodiversidade da Amazônia. São basicamente três os objetivos do programa de biodiversidade, o PPBIO: o primeiro o estabelecimento de uma estruturação e fomento das pesquisas sobre inventario; o segundo a institucionalização das coleções, no sentido de vc ter infra-estrutura adequada e uma padronização. O que e absolutamente importante também e a qualificação institucional das coleções, ou seja, vc vai ter uma forma padronizada de gerenciar essas coleções e de inventaria-las institucionalmente para poder possibilitar lá na frente o cruzamento de dados. E o terceiro ponto que e também fundamental é a formação de recursos humanos. Nos temos uma carência bastante grande de recursos humanos então um componente bastante expressivo deste programa e a formação e o treinamento para poder fazer este inventario e para poder tratar das coleções.
Translation - English The workshop has been absolutely fundamental in the establishment of the Amazonian biodiversity research program, PPBIO. Due to the research undertaken, the Science & Technology Ministry adopted all of the suggestions that were made by various different field specialists participating in the workshop. The ministry of science and technology research program was initially carried out by two institutions: The Emilio Goeldi Museum of Pará, and The National Institute of Amazonian Research, INPA.
PPBIO aims at establishing an Amazonian biodiversity research network, the main goals being: First, to structure and motivate inventory research; secondly, the institutionalization of sample collections, which means the building of adequate infra-structure and standards. It is also very important to institutionally verify these collections, thus having standardized management and institutionalized inventories to make further cross-referencing of data possible.
Human resources training is the third main goal, and is also fundamental. Because there is such a small amount of human resources, one of the basic components of the program is training and preparation of staff to make their own inventories and deal with the sample collections.

As informações são passadas ao aluno de diversas formas, através de palestras, textos, gravuras e desenhos, dentre diversos outros meios, mas não se transforma em conhecimento imediatamente. O processo de transformação da informação em conhecimento se dá através de processo conhecido como mapeamento mental onde são formatados modelos que vão ajudar a montagem de novos modelos. Esse conjunto de modelos na mente do aluno evolui de forma espiralar, ou seja, existe uma harmonia no processo de transformar informação em conhecimento que evolui de forma cíclica e contínua.
Cada ciclo de aprendizagem se completa quando o aluno é capaz de explicar o que aprendeu e, nesse momento, elabora em sua mente seus modelos cognitivos. O processo de aprendizagem, então, passa por dois períodos que devem ser observados pelo responsável pelo processo de aprendizagem segundo COLLINS (1987) e SCHUMACHER (1992). O período de coleta de informação e o período de síntese ou formação de modelos mentais que é quando o aluno completa o ciclo e é capaz de explicar aquilo que aprendeu ou seja completa seus modelos mentais.
De forma gráfica procurou-se representar esse fenômeno. Existe a fase do estudo individual, quando são absorvidas novas informações e conteúdos e a fase coletiva, quando o aluno é forçado a explicar o que absorveu, completando o ciclo e consolidando em sua mente os modelos apreendidos. Desses dois ciclos surgiram diversas técnicas pedagógicas e o modelo híbrido proposto.
Translation - English According to BRUNER (1960), knowledge is formed in the mind of the student and not transmitted by the teacher. Information is passed to the student in various forms, such as lectures, texts, pictures and drawings, among various other mediums, but this information isn’t transformed into knowledge immediately. The process of transforming information into knowledge gives itself to the process known as mental mapping where structures that will help us to mount new knowledge models are formulated. This array of student mind models evolves in a spiral form, or perhaps, a harmony exists in the process of transforming information into knowledge that evolves in a cyclic and continuous form.
Each learning cycle is completed when the student is capable of explaining what he has learned, and at this moment, elaborating cognitive models in his mind. However, according to COLLINS (1987) and SCHUMACHER (1992) the learning process passes through two phases that must be observed by those responsible at the learning process. The information collection period and the synthesis period, or the formation of mental models, is when the student completes the cycle and is capable of explaining what he has already learned, being the completion of the mental models.
The graphical representation aims at representing this phenomenon. An individual study phase exists, when new information and content is absorbed in a collective phase, when the student is made to explain what he has absorbed, completing the cycle and consolidating the models that have been learnt in his mind. Various pedagogical techniques arise in these two cycles, shown in the proposed hybrid model.

Qualified as a software engineer (programmer) and IT specialist, I made a permanent career move into languages after moving to Brazil in 2002.
