Summary:By means of practical examples, this webinar presents some often underused Microsoft Word features that can greatly help translators gain productivity and quality in their work.
Description
Text editors, among which Microsoft Word is the most popular nowadays, tend to be translators’ very first CAT tool. Furthermore, some other CAT tools, such as Wordfast Classic, are designed as Word add-ons, and even translators who use standalone applications to translate may need Word for pre-formatting source texts or editing/proofreading translations. However, many translators, as most other Word users, do not know or do not use most of its functionalities and end up spending a great deal of their time with boring repetitive tasks that the computer could perform faster and possibly better.
This webinar presents some often underutilized Microsoft Word resources that can greatly help translators do their job, providing productivity and quality gains. Topics covered include keyboard shortcuts, ways to move faster through long documents, advanced use of Find-Replace function, among others. All features are demonstrated by means of practical exercises with the program.
