Having graduated from the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of Geneva University in 2007, I am a professional Translator/Interpreter working in the sphere of international relations, law, banking, science and finance with 5 languages – French, English, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian. I have a rich professional experience in translation and interpretation (Internship with Interpretation Service of the United Nations Office at Geneva; Chief of Translation/Interpretation Service at the Intesa Sanpaolo International Banking Group; Translator/Interpreter with Swiss financial institutions; numerous NGOs; Chambers of Commerce and Industry; newspapers and journals; governmental and international organizations).
In my family I had an opportunity to speak Russian and French. Later, in Moscow secondary school specialized in teaching French language and culture, I deepened my knowledge and skills; at Kiev Taras Shevchenko University I studied translation as well as simultaneous and consecutive interpretation; and during my years of study spent as a student and researcher at Geneva University and the United Nations Office at Geneva I was trained as Translator and Simultaneous Interpreter Trainer.
Mastering a foreign language to perfection is not sufficient. It is very important for a good Translator to possess a considerable “bagage culturel”, according to Marianne Lederer, a Researcher in the field of Translation from Sorbonne. As a Translator and Interpreter, I have an opportunity to travel a lot across Europe, which lets me understand cultural realities of European peoples.
I live in Spain and Ukraine with frequent work trips in Switzerland and France.
Translation is my profession and I love it. “Happy is the man who can make a living by his hobby”, said George Bernard Show. In other words, when you love something, you are happy to put your best efforts in it. That is just my case.
