That "中秋祝福" by chance's friend from China reminded me of this great performance by Lucille Ball and Bea Arthur in the movie "Mame". I've posted a Youtube link before but it's no longer functional; so here's another one ...

We'll always be bosom buddies
Friends, sisters, and pals
We'll always be bosom buddies
If life should reject you
There's me to protect you
If I say that your tongue is vicious
If I call you uncouth
It's simply that who else but a bosom buddy
Will sit down and tell you the truth
Though now and again I'm aware that my candid opinion may sting
Though often my frank observation might scald
I've been meaning to tell you for years
You should keep your hair natural like mine
If I kept my hair natural like yours, I'd be bald
But darling
If I say that your sense of style's as far off as your youth
It's simply that who else but a bosom buddy
Will tell you the whole stinkin' truth
Each time that a critic has written your voice is the voice of a frog
Straight to your side to defend you I rush
You know that I'm there every time that the world makes an unkind remark
When they say "Vera Charles is the world's greatest lush!"
It hurts me
I'm thrilled by the style and wit of each jest that you make
It's bracing to trade quips with my bosom buddy
You Woolcott, you Benchley
You snake
I feel it's my duty to tell you it's time to adjust to your age
You try to be "Peg O' My Heart", when you're "Lady Macbeth"
Exactly how old are you, Vera? The truth!
How old do you think?
I'd say somewhere between forty and death
But sweetie
I'll always be Alice Toklas
If you'll be Gertrude Stein
And though I'll admit I've dished you
I've gossiped and gloated
But I'm so devoted
And if I say that sex and guts made you into a star
Remember that who else but a bosom buddy
Will tell you how rotten you are
Just turn to your bosom buddy
For aid and affection
For help and direction
For loyalty, love, and for sooth
Remember that who else but a bosom buddy
Will sit down and level
And give you the devil
Will sit down and tell you the truth

That's pretty wild!
That would definitely be a no no for the U.S. version of "So You Think You Can Dance". The performance is way too racy for prime time television, and is probably more befitting for what they call a "gentlemen's club" ... but for the clothes of course
It's wild, indeed.
The prudent US protestants might not appreciate such performances. But what would they talk about in a gentlemen's club? I guess nothing. As a rule, the gentleman enjoys and keeps silent. (Der Gentleman genießt und schweigt.)

Well, now I'm not too sure anymore.
Just now while doing some work at home, I had the TV on tuned into ABC's "Dancing with the Stars". One of the celebrities Albert Reed performed a Cha Cha with his dance partner that had the judges all hot and bothered to say the least. I missed most of the dancing, but did hear all the oohin' and aahin' from the judges
And If past seasons are any guide, the clip will be on Youtube eventually.
BTW, here in the U. S., a gentlemen's club is another name for a strip joint. It's no longer your good ol' boy's hifalutin, stuffy country club.

Steven,
The above link is a bit of Latin American History summarized with a piece of Reggaeton. Quite a nice one. You see, there is always a reason why a certain culture develops a certain type of dance with music. There is surely a reason that belly dance comes from Middle East. Pity that I am not an orientalist enough to understand the ground.
Anyway, nothing can shock me. Such dances and music are all right for me --- or rather, I enjoy them. ▲ Collapse

Here's some plot background that eventually led up to the musical number of "Bosom Buddies" in "Mame". It's really hilarious IMO, but I don't expect everyone to agree since humor could be very culture-dependent.

胜利歌声多么响亮;
跨过奔腾的黄河长江;

独立自由是我们的理想;

你用甘甜的乳汁,哺育各族儿女;
我们赞美长江,你是无穷的源泉;
你从远古走来,巨浪荡涤着尘埃;
你用纯洁的清流,灌溉花的国土;
我们赞美长江,你是无穷的源泉;
