Two sentences from the text it is used in are as follows:

This is from an end of the world religious type text about two people being observed by scientists for signs of a religious awakening. They're part of a bigger team (the first example sentence above refers to the larger team) but the two in question are the ones who are observed - constantly in their daily lives (working as in the second example sentence above) or even while they're sleeping to analyse their dreams. Monitored by university scientists through a monitor in a laboratory and other means.
The text is Argentine Spanish. Unitivo which is a simple enough word you would think is not actually in any dictionary I have looked up so maybe unitivo is the Argentine spanish equivalent of unitario which is used in Spain. I have looked up the differences between Argentine Spanish and Spanish from Spain but have not found anything useful.
I am thinking 'unified field' but this is too much like the unified field theory of physics (though this sometimes crosses into philosophy and so on which this text is also about).

The main supporting evidence put forward for the unified field theory of consciousness is the reported existence of the Maharishi effect. The Maharishi effect is an increase in quality of life and decrease in violent offending that is reported to occur when approximately 1% of the population of any given geographical area repeatedly meditates in such a way that all the practitioners in the group achieve pure consciousness (ie consciousness without any contents) at the same time. Hi! I think you're right to think that 'campo unitivo' is translated as 'unified field'. However, I'm afraid I don't know enough about the subject to recommend replacing the term with 'Tao'.

| Thanks Phil and Helena. Phil, I agree with uniting used with force as opposed to with field. I used uniting force in the final submitted document. Sorry for the short first sentence. I could have given you guys a better example but it's done now. Funny how those 3 letters -ivo can cause so much discussion : ) Glad to be developing my knowledge of Argentine Spanish though!! |

: Sorry after you've gone to so much trouble to provide references, but I'm not convinced by this. The first sentence of context doesn't help because it's so short, and the second seems to imply something like "the force uniting them" rather than "unified".

Hi! I agree that -ivo is often -ing in English, not -ed, but I couldn't find any convincing references. The term's not common in Spanish, only 73 hits for "campo unitivo" on google.com.ar. Thanks for your opinion, Phil :-)

There's no particular reason why "campo unitivo" should get many hits, but I take "campo" to mean something intangible that exists between them, and I think "force" works better than "field".
