Spanish term

tardía y tendenciosa

Spanish to English Art/Literary Religion
Esta “reconstrucción” es un benéfico antídoto a la continua “desconstrucción” del Jesús histórico, que no es sólo memoria de la investigación racionalista académica, sino también una actual reproposición en Internet de la tesis sobre la creación tardía y tendenciosa de la “historia de Jesús”.

Charles Davis Dec 30, 2010:
tendencious vs. tendentious You're right, Jenni, I had no idea! I've always spelt it "tendentious". "Tendencious" is not in the Oxford Concise, though it is given as an alternative in dictionary.com, based on Random House. Since I've never encountered it, as a British speaker, I thought perhaps it was American, but Merriam-Webster says it's a "chiefly British variant of tendentious". You live and learn!
Jenni Lukac (X) Dec 30, 2010:
FYI: both spellings are correct!

belated and tendentious

I think the literal translation works fine here, the idea being that the story of Christ appeared later in history than would be expected and "calculated to promote a particular cause or point of view" (Oxford English).
