Are there any plug-ins available for all dictionary lookups in memoQ?

One of the few nice features of working with Trados was that it was fully integrated into the MS Office environment, and all commands in MS Office could be used during a translation.

An outstanding advantage was dictionary lookups. Most manufacturers such as Collins or Unilex have lookup macros for easy lookup. For example, the Collins interface displays the dictionary entry for any given word in a document if you right click a word (pop-up search). It does not appear to work in memoQ.

Russian dictionary manufacturer AbbYY Lingvo is more sophisticated, and uses Ctrl-C Ctrl-C, which is a Windows level interface, as opposed to a Word level macro, and works in memoQ.

Here is information about the macro for Unilex, which works only in Word.

"The ACUNILEX.DOT file can be used in Microsoft Word for Windows (WinWord), and supports data exchange between WinWord and Acolada UniLex. This file contains WinWord Macros for both communication methods (WinWord 6.0 or later)."

These Collins and Unilex macros do not work in the memoQ environment, and dictionary lookups are a tedious task from the memoQ interface.

Hence my question: Are there any plug-ins available for all dictionary lookups in memoQ? These are likely to be manufacturer-specific, but is there one place one can go to for memoQ plug-ins?

Hi Anil,

I don't know the answer to your question - but I'm certainly interested to find out.

Could you please also post it to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/memoQ/ ? That's where the MQ wizzards hang out.

Hi Anil,

Have you had a look at IntelliWebSearch yet? Or AutoHotkey? They both offer ways of selecting a term in memoQ, clicking a shortcut, and automatically popping said term into your dictionary tool of choice (or any online dictionary, for that matter).
