ProZ.com powwow: Get together, families welcome, buffet
November 30, 2013, 2:00 pm
GermanyHamburgIn personEnglish
Hello everyone!
Come to Hamburg and meet up over a buffet lunch!
Maybe we can take a wander after lunch around the Christmas markets or stay inside and enjoy the conversation. This will be my first powwow and the first powwow in Hamburg since 2008, so get your names down on the list!
The ADÜ, our translators and interpreters association here in northern Germany, will have a presence and provide information if desired.
If anyone would like to suggest a theme or make a little presentation themselves, please let me know.
Otherwise, it will just be a nice informal get-together.
looking forward to meeting you all
Heather
Foodwise:
The buffet lunch will be at the Sri Lanka restaurant Breitengrad, near the Flora theatre, who have kindly provided us with their entire restaurant between 13 - 17:00.
Restaurant Breitengrad, Gefionstrasse 3, 22769 Hamburg
Tel: 040 43189999
They charge 17 Euro per person for the buffet (children up to 6 eat free, between 6-12 half the rate). Drinks must be paid for separately.
I would therefore ask everyone to confirm their attendance 1 week in advance.
You can still email me direct if you want to come, up to the day before!!!!
You can pay on the day.
Anyone with special dietary requirements, please let me know!
The buffet will consist of:
Sri Lanka Snacks (Frühlingsrollen mit Lamm, panierte Thunfischbällchen, Gemüseteigtaschen, Gemüse Pakoras)
pikante Saucen / Aubergine Moju (süß-scharf eingelegte Aubergine)
Gurkensalat mit hausgemachtem Joghurt Dressing
Brot
Devilled Beef (mittelscharf)
Chicken Biriyani (mild)
Basmati Reis
Gebratene Gemüsenudeln
Ceylonesische Bratkartoffeln
Curry aus Roten Linsen mit Spinat
Gemischte Gemüse Curry
Pappadums, Mango Chutney, Lime Pickle

Where can I find my ID?
Nov 17, 2013
Hi there,
Looking forward to my first-ever Powwow, train tickets are booked, but still got a problem:
Somewhere in the FQAs on Powwows I read that the organiser is to take down the participants' Proz.com names and IDs in a list, so the participants can be credited with BrowniZ afterwards. But where do I find my ProZ.com ID? Checked everywhere, but in vain - or could it be I just need to show my personal ID document (e.g. Personalausweis) rather than a Proz.com ID?

ID and BrowniZ
Nov 18, 2013
Hi I will tick off the participants on the attendance list printed out here and proz will then award BrowniZ. So all you need to do is turn up and tell me who you are your Proz ID is the number you have as a member, for instance my number is 934453, should be in your profile in the lefthand corner. Every member gets an ID number. hope that helps best regards Heather

I had a nice time meeting some of you on Saturday. Thanks to Heather for finding a great location for us. It fit us just right. Hopefully this was just one of many networking opportunities for us here in Hamburg. Next time I'll have to bring a bell to ring to have us switch tables in the middle. I got so caught up chatting with everyone at my table that I didn't end up mingling with anyone else until it was almost time for me to go. That's one more reason to have another... See more

Take care, "AmiHH" (Hopefully some of you remember me behind my code name. Maybe I should change that old picture of me for starters.) ▲ Collapse

What a great afternoon! It's been a real pleasure meeting so many colleagues and very interesting to exchange experiences! A more than welcome break from being stuck behind the PC in "isolation", and though time flew by too quickly, it was well worth the travel!
Thank you so much, Heather, for taking the initiative, and also to Fiona for putting me up (or should I say, for putting up with me? ) <... See more
