Source text - English If you're a regular reader of our news stories, you know that astronomers have struggled for decades to understand what's going on with the binary star Epsilon Aurigae. This easy naked-eye star, now high overhead after dusk, was discovered to dim in 1821. By a half century ago it was generally recognized as some kind of eclipsing system with a period of 27.1 years.

Source text - Italian Intervento del sindaco XXX
Porto il saluto mio personale e quello della città di Pontedera alla mostra d’arte organizzata da XXX, e dedicata a XXX. “XXX” è il titolo di questa mostra, che ci incuriosisce e ci invita a interrogarci su ciò che l’artista vuole comunicare. La mostra giunge a Pontedera dopo aver avuto altre rappresentazioni. Mi auguro che l’artista trovi anche qui l’interesse e la curiosità dei miei concittadini. Pontedera non è ormai, una città qualsiasi, nel campo dell’arte. E’ una città che ha avviato da qualche anno un percorso di ricerca e innovazione, con grande attenzione verso l’arte. Pochi territorio hanno osato tanto. L’arte è arrivata negli spazi pubblici, con le opere d’arte collocate ogni anno ad abbellire una piazza della città. L’arte è poi diventata materia di studio approfondito tra i bambini e i giovani, e, soprattutto, è diventata argomento di discussione tra i cittadini. Tutta la città si è interrogata sul valore dell’arte, sulle modifiche che questa porta alla percezione e alla fruizione dei luoghi pubblici. Dovremmo sorprenderci di più del grigio che del colore, di più dell’assenza dell’arte che della sua presenza. Poiché l’arte è il segno stesso dell’inquietudine umana. Ringrazio ancora una volta XXX. La galleria di cui lui è instancabile animatore “XXX”, è nata da circa dieci anni. Sul suo sito è scritto che “vuole diventare qualcosa in più e di diverso dalla solita "galleria d'arte". Vuole essere un punto di incontro e di interesse per tutti gli artisti che sentono l'esigenza di ritrovarsi e fare cultura nel modo a loro più congeniale”. Io credo che sia già riuscita in questo intento. La presenza del XXX ha dato un contributo importante nel percorso che il Comune ha avviato. E infine voglio salutare l’artista: XXX. Dalla sua esperienza e dalla sua storia emerge il quadro di un artista poliedrico e giovane, attento alle diverse e nuove forme di arte e di comunicazione. Sono certo che usciremo arricchiti di nuove domande e di nuova curiosità dalla sua mostra. Pontedera vi ringrazia per tutto questo.

Translation - English Mayor XXX's speech
My personal greeting and one from the town of Pontedera to XXX’s art exhibition organized by XXX. “XXX”, the title of this exposition arouses our curiosity and pushes us to wonder about the artist’s communicative intents. This exposition has landed in Pontedera after a certain number of representations, and I wish the artist to meet the interest and curiosity of all my fellow-citizens. Pontedera is no novice when it comes to art: it has started its own research and innovation path a few years ago, with a special attention to the arts in general. Art has reached public areas, with works displayed to embellish the town’s square. Art has then become the object of in depth studies among school kids and youngsters, and has most of all become an important topic in citizens’ conversations. The whole town has considered art in its own value and how easily it can change the perception and enjoyment of public areas. Grey in itself should surprise us more than color, the absence of art should let us astonished more than its presence, since art is the symbol of human restlessness.
I would once more like to thank Mr XXX: unceasing organizer of the "XXX" art gallery ever since it was founded ten years ago. His website recites: “It wants to become something more and something different from the typical “art gallery”. It aims to be a point of reference for all those artists who feel the need to meet up and create in the most congenial way.”, I believe the gallery has already achieved that goal. The existence of the XXX art gallery has given an important contribution in the path our administration has started.
And please let me address a well-deserved greeting to the artist, XXX: what emerges from his background and experience is the portrait of a young and versatile artist, with an attentive eye on different and new forms of art and communication. I’m sure his art exhibition will stir our spirits to new questions and a sharper curiosity.

C’est en 1696 qu’un curé eut l’idée d’installer dans un vieux chêne deux chapelles que l’on atteint par un escalier de bois qui s’enroule autour du tronc.
C’est au cœur de l’arbre que nombre de pèlerins viennent prier, culte rendu tant à la Vierge, qu’au Christ et à l’Arbre.
Ce chêne millénaire de onze mètres de circonférence et dix-huit mètres de haut, a bien souffert des tempêtes contemporaines, mais il est toujours debout étayé et désormais protégé des intempéries par des tuileaux de bois.

Nel 1696 fu un parroco ad avere l’idea d’installare all’interno di una vecchia quercia due cappelle, raggiungibili per mezzo di una scala in legno attorcigliata intorno al tronco.
E’ dunque nel cuore di quest’albero che numerosi pellegrini vengono a pregare la Vergine, Gesù Cristo e l’Albero stesso.
Questa quercia millenaria di undici metri di circonferenza e diciotto d’altezza, nonostante le tempeste contemporanee è ancora in piedi, puntellata da sostegni e protetta dalle intemperie grazie a un tegolato in legno.
