English to Romanian: The courts of the common law General field: Law/Patents Detailed field: Law (general)
Source text - English The Court of Exchequer. This became a separate court in the reign of Henry I (approximately 1140) and originally dealt with the collection of royal revenue, and at a later date disputes over debts. The judges were known as Barons. It acquired jurisdiction over the writ of debt through the fiction of ¨Quominus¨. This depended on on a fictitious allegation of a debt owed to him by the defendant. The King´s interest was thus involved and the royal court could try the substantive dispute between the parties.
Translation - Romanian Curtea Esichierului. Aceasta a devenit o instanta separata in timpul domniei lui Henry I (approx. Interesul regelui era astfel implicat si curtea regala putea judeca conflictul material dintre parti.
English to Romanian: Paragraph from ¨Emily of New Moon¨ by Lucy Maud Montgomery General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Then the potatoes were done-and Cousin Jimmy gave each of them one before he mixed in the bran; they broke then in pieces on plates of birch-bark, sprinkled them with salt which Emily had cached in a small box under the roots of the biggest spruce, and ate them with gusto. No banquet of gods was ever as delicious as those potatoes. Then finally came Aunt Lauraś kind, silvery voice calling through the frosty dark; Ilse and Teddy scampered homewards; and Emily captured Mike II and shut him safely for the night in the New Moon dog-house which had held no dog for years, but was still carefully preserved and whitewashed every spring. Emilyś heart would have broken if anything had happened to Mike II.

Translation - English Ladies and gentlemen senators and deputies,
It has been more than 60 years since I last addressed to the Romanian nation from the tribune of the Parliament.
I have accepted with gladness and hope the invitation from the validate representatives of this nation.
Our first duty today is to remember all those who died for our independence and liberties, in all wars we had to carry out and in the December 1989 events, that eliminated the communist dictatorship.
We can not have any future without paying respect to our past. The last twenty years have brought democracy, freedoms and at the dawn of prosperity. People travel, fulfill their dreams and make efforts to consolidate their family and life, for the benefit of future generations.
