Source text - English I wanted to share with you my personal story of how I simplified my life. Maybe you have a similar story and will find some inspiration here. I promise to keep it short.
In 2009 I left my home country Greece and moved to London. I had just finished my studies.
The reason I left Greece was not the financial crisis. Rather, I was an ambitious young man that wanted to start his career in investment banking and make lots of money.
However, I didn’t have any work experience and I knew my goal wouldn’t be that easy, especially at the onset of a global financial crisis.
I ended up doing all sorts of jobs including selling Christmas trees, teaching maths, playing the guitar, setting up the WiFi at coffee shops, working at supermarkets, and doing the shopping for elderly people.
In the meantime, I would study the mechanics of the financial products until late night and schmooze every banker I met.
After a series of unsuccessful interviews, I finally got into banking. My wages instantly quadrupled. I called my mom back in Greece to say: ‘I made it!’

J'ai fini par faire toutes sortes de boulots, y compris la vente des arbres de Noël, l'enseignement des maths, jouer de la guitare, la mise en place du WiFi dans les cafés, en travaillant dans les supermarchés, et faire le shopping pour les personnes âgées.
Entre-temps, j'étudiais le mécanisme des produits financiers jusque tard dans la nuit et je papotais tous les banquiers que je rencontrais.
Après une série d'entretiens infructueux, j’ai finalement obtenu un travail dans une banque. Mon salaire a directement quadruplé. J'ai appelé ma mère pour lui dire: «je l'ai fait!»

Je me suis toujours approprié le nouvel iPhone et une paire de chaussures chaque semaine. Si je ne pouvais pas décider quel costume me convenait le mieux, je les prenais tous juste pour être sûr.
