Source text - English Over the past five years, the role of the accounts payable (AP) department within all sizes of enterprises has dramatically changed. Previously, an AP department was managed as a cost center that only processed and reviewed transactions, coordinated with other departments, responded to inquiries, reconciled accounts and generally performed paperwork. Now, primarily due to compliance requirements and regulations regarding fraud, the AP department must also play a larger support role by helping to control, coordinate and analyze key business processes.
This means the AP function is more visible within the organization and its main responsibilities now lie in quality assurance, contract/policy compliance, reporting and analysis. With this change comes an increase in workload and added responsibilities. AP departments need to redeploy their skilled knowledge workers from back office administrative tasks, such as invoice processing, to more business critical management activities. To achieve this, AP departments are looking to automate as much of the invoice process as they can, thereby reducing the cost of invoice processing, increasing both process speed and data quality, and allowing them to redirect their skilled resources to address more pressing issues.

Früher war eine AP-Abteilung eine Kostenstelle, über die in Koordination mit anderen Abteilungen Transaktionen abgewickelt und überprüft, Anfragen bearbeitet, Konten abgeglichen und allgemeine Papierbearbeitung erledigt wurden. Heute kommt der AP-Abteilung angesichts von Compliance-Anforderungen und Betrugsverordnungen eine größere unterstützende Rolle bei der Kontrolle, Koordination und Analyse zentraler Geschäftsprozesse zu.
Damit rückt die AP-Funktion im Gesamtunternehmen mehr in den Fokus und die Hauptverantwortlichkeiten liegen auf Qualitätssicherung, Einhaltung von Vertrags-/Policy-Compliance, Berichten und Analysen. Mit diesem Wandel einher geht also ein Mehr an Belastung und Verantwortung. Qualifizierte Wissensarbeiter werden von den AP-Abteilungen jetzt nicht mehr für Rechnungsverarbeitung und andere administrative Aufgaben im Backoffice eingesetzt, sondern für wesentliche Managementaktivitäten. Also bemühen sich AP-Abteilungen, die Rechnungsverarbeitung weitestmöglich zu automatisieren, nicht nur um die Kosten zu senken sowie die Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeit und die Datenqualität zu verbessern, sondern vor allem, um ihre qualifizierten Personalressourcen für wichtigere Aufgaben einsetzen zu können.

In a good translation the reader shouldn’t realize that the text is not the original. The content as well as the tone should be retained. This is mainly achieved by Sprachgefühl which you won’t learn at any school. If it is more important for you to find a translator with Sprachgefühl who is working accurately and timely than an approved or certified one, I am your man.
