Source text - English A phase IV open randomized trial was conducted to check the reactogenicity of DTwP vaccines (Shake Flask and Fermentor)
in 290 evaluable infants, in the age group 6-8 weeks.
Group A : DTP ( Shake Flask Type ) Vaccine (n = 142)
Group B : DTP ( Fermentor Type ) Vaccine (n = 148)
Three doses of DTwP vaccine were administered intramuscularly with a gap of atleast 1 month between 2 successsive doses. Immunogenicity was determined on the basis of IgG antibody titres against each of the vaccine component viz. diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. This assessment was done by ELISA and antibody levels were measured before immunization and one month after the last dose of immunization.
DTwP vaccines elicited protective IgG antibodies against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis, in both groups. There was statistically significant difference in the Geometric Mean Titres when pre- vaccination level was compared with post-vaccination level. Post-vaccination seroconversion rates for all three components were comparable in both groups.
Translation - Spanish Un ensayo abierto aleatorizado de la fase IV fue conducido para comprobar la reactogenicidad de las vacunas de DTwP (tubo y fermentador) en 290 niños evaluables, en el grupo etario de 6-8 semanas.
Grupo A: Vacuna (n = 142) de DTP (tipo tubo)
Grupo B: Vacuna (n = 148) de DTP (tipo fermentador)
Tres dosis de la vacuna de DTwP fueron administradas intramuscularmente con un intervalo de al menos 1 mes entre 2 dosis sucesivas. La inmunogenicidad fue resuelta en base a títulos de anticuerpo de la IgG en contra de cada componente de la vacuna, a saber, difteria, tétanos y tos ferina. Esta evaluación fue realizada mediante ELISA y los niveles de anticuerpo fueron medidos antes de la inmunización y un mes después de la última dosis de inmunización.
Las vacunas de DTwP obtuvieron los anticuerpos protectores de la IgG contra la difteria, tétanos y tos ferina, en ambos grupos. Hubo estadísticamente una diferencia significativa en los títulos de media geométrica cuando el nivel anterior a la vacunación fue comparado con el nivel posterior a la vacunación. Los índices de seroconversión posterior a la vacunación para los tres componentes fueron comparables en ambos grupos.
