Bio

I
must amend this Bio heartbrokenly informing you all that, on April 30, 2022,
Cinthia, my best half, wife, soul&mindmate, partner, lover, colleague and,
most important, friend of these last 37 years of my life, spent together nearly
24/7, has “shuffled off her mortal coil” after a three years fight against
cancer. Life had not been kind to her, when she was 4 she got one of the worse form
of poliomielitis that let very little of her body in good shape, so that in her
older years she had to resove to a wheel-chair. Nevertheless, nothing impaired
her brilliant mind but in the last days, when the cancer started to attack also
her wonderful brain.

Her
qualities as a a thorough researcher brought us here on ProZ, that she had
discovered, and her enthusiasm quickly pushed us high up the Kudoz ladder. All
the success we achieved and the appreciation we received in our work is credit
to her wonderful mind and her strong will.

Rest
in peace, my only love.

Actually, better say "About us": we are a team, the two of us, both in life
and work since 35 years.

Cinthia, Foreign Languages High School Diploma (English, French and
Arabic, this last long since forgotten. Living two years in the U.S. and ten
years in Spain.

She's an accurate and
careful researcher, and a very hard worker. In our team she mainly looks after
editing, reviewing and proofing, both from English into Italian and vice-versa.
Very often she shares the total workload.

Arrigo, Classical High School Diploma. I studied French as a kid, then English
plus, of course, Latin and Greek and, more recently, Spanish, on location.
Several long stays abroad working in USA, UK and other European Countries.
Moreover, one year on an English course provided by the Company then hiring me.
I used do the most part of the translation job and join her in the proofing;
now, we both translate and exchange roles on each other's translations.

Current work: freelance translators
EN->IT->EN (don't be misled, it's now since over 35 years that we earn
our living thanks also to our knowledge of English).

Previous works: we both
worked in different roles (tech, admin, sales, logistics and procurement) in
international corporations, specializing in Information Technology (HW &
SW), mechanical/electrical engineering, automotive, communication electronics.

We also ran for ten
years our own firm for HW, SW and IT Services to end users in Rome area.

From a professional
point of view, the last 12 years have been “very good years”; below you will
find a partial list of customers and matters.

Automotive: about 3.000,000 words for Aston Martin, Bentley (currently
our major account), Rolls-Royce, Chrysler, Honda, GM, Mazda Lexus, Toyota,
FIAT, IVECO, Maserati, Piaggio. Technical, operation and maintenance manuals,
Marketing documentation, commercial ads, e-Learning and training courses,
seminars, adverts.

Boatbuilding: 75,000 words, two owner's manuals for two large
Italian power yachts.
20,000 words of new Italian documentation for Honda Marine
outboards and inflatables and several other jobs related to naval engines. Several
marketing communications about marine engines by Volvo-Penta.

Chemical: about 200,000 words of MSDS for Rentokil-Initial and others in the
same business.

Computers, HW&SW, IT and networks: over 2.500,000 words of manuals and
training courses, plus software localization. Several manuals for computer
based applications and programs for mechanical plants and equipment.
500,000 words of technical documentation
for jacks, connectors, patch cables and related equipment for Excel Networking
and Motorola.

Electronics: over 2,000,000 words of documentation, manuals and website of
electronic DJ equipment, stage lighting and relevant accessories for Chauvet,
American Audio, American DJ and Elation. In addition, manuals for Garmin
navigation systems, Car Audio and Entertainment systems and several other
devices for Motorola

kinds of machinery, from sawing mills to boring, turning, facing, drilling, tapping
machinery and related activities, to Hyundai Kia Machine machining centres.

distributor/manufacturer of mechanical products of any kind (
http://www.wdscomponents.it).

Technical/commercial
documentation for Tsurumi Pumps of Japan.

About 100,000 words of manuals for
AVIRE elevators.

Military and Naval: 50,000 words of manuals and procedures for
electronic war-game devices.

25,000 words for the
maintenance and user's manual of a 4WD armoured vehicle.
15,000 words of tech/operation
manual for an ASM bazooka.
80,000 words of maintenance and operation manual for a LRR
attack/defence radar.

Thermomechanical: over 1,000,000 words for ABB/GE power generation plants and others in
the

field.

Miscellanea: over 500 articles for on-line magazines, about, geo-politics,
history, literature, health, finance etc.

Perhaps our funniest
experience was subtitling a well-known mobsters movie from Neapolitan to English
(sic!).

In addition, we have
been selected and
certified as EN->IT->EN translators by a major Italian outsourcer, currently
hiring us very often.

Our tools: complete and
redundant HW, plenty of SW, Windows10 + Office 2003/2007/2010. We definitely
improved our skills with SDLX, Trados 2007, Studio 2011/14/17 and Across 6.3.

We can afford to be very
fast, yet maintaining a high quality level and, last but not least, we are not
scared by working overtime when schedules are to be met.

We never leave a customer stranded, Saturdays
and Sundays don't exist for us if a customer is in need: we were grown at a
"Think Customer" school…, and it has
always paid.
