Experience
Years of experience: 36. Registered at ProZ.com: Oct 2008.
Having graduated from a highly reputable English High School which was founded in 1902 by her majesty herself in Istanbul, I have started working as a professional translation as early as 1988. My first project was the Siemens mainframes installed for & used by Istanbul Municipality for the first wide-spread application of Traffic Signalization for the city of Istanbul. Secondly I was hired as a team leader for the first software adaptation project of IBM. I have led the team that translated MAPICS, i.e. the grandmother of Ms Office. Then we have moved on to translating AS 400 operating system and applications. Then I have moved to Australia where I have lived for 4 years and became a citizen. I have acted as technical writer at Unisys. Moving back to Turkey I have started working for NCR. I have never worked at a local company where speaking English language “does not matter”. It was always an important part of my work life. I have started as a professional services consultant at NCR. I have left NCR as a division manager. After 11 years of full-time language-dependent consultancy job at NCR, last year I have started doing professional technical translation on software applications, marketing materials, user manuals in all major industries including brands such as: Microsoft, HP, Lexmark, Google, Nokia, Cisco, Dell, Canon, iPhone, BPC Planets, Wirecard Horus, Kodak, Monroe Shock Absorbers, Jack Daniel’s, Nésquik. I have deployed Trados, Logoport, LM Studio, etc. whenever necessary. I can translate both ways, and interpret when necessary.
