Translation - English - Liquidity Risk
In day-to-day business, the most efficient methods against liquidity risks are thorough liquidity planning / cash management, diversification of customer and product structure and efficient claim management. Reliable operational processes are a further pillar for protection against manufacturing disruption and resulting liquidity problems. As reliable information on the typical liquidity risk can be gained by VaR, it is part of a responsible liquidity management to always hold reserves of liquidity adjusted to the information of VaR. Furthermore, it is necessary to watch term congruency between payment targets agreed with customers and suppliers.
Partly, insurance against production disruption from occurrence of damage (fire, production stop) is possible and adequate. Prophylactic measures against a deterioration of credit rating are only possible by way of long term sound balance sheet and finance policy and through open conservative communication with banks and rating agencies.
Liquidity risks from bank financing should be covered by financial derivatives such as Swap, Cap, Forward and Future contracts.
