La salud mental puede ser definida como el estado de bienestar que permite a los individuos realizar sus habilidades, afrontar el estrés normal de la vida, trabajar de manera productiva y fructífera y hacer una contribución significativa a sus comunidades. El concepto incluye la idea de bienestar subjetivo, autonomía y competencia y el reconocimiento de la habilidad de realizarse emocional e intelectualmente. Estos conceptos son aplicables al individuo, la familia y la comunidad, y considerar una visión de contexto en el que se desarrollan las personas (Organización Mundial de la Salud [OMS], 2004).
La salud física y la mental están inextricablemente ligadas, sin embargo, en general la salud mental infantil no es considerada con la importancia debida, a pesar de existir cifras alarmantes al respecto (Organización Panamericana de la Salud [OPS], 2009).
No hay salud sin salud mental. La relación entre los componentes físico y mental de la salud es múltiple y variada. Los trastornos mentales aumentan el riesgo de padecer enfermedades trasmisibles y no trasmisibles, además de contribuir a las lesiones intencionales y no intencionales. También muchas condiciones patológicas aumentan el riesgo de padecer trastornos mentales y esa co morbilidad no solo complica la búsqueda de ayuda y de tratamiento si no que influye en el pronostico (Prince, Patel, Saxena, Maj, Maselko, Phillips & Rahman, 2007).
Cuando circunscribimos la problemática de salud mental al ámbito infantil, el tema se complejiza aun mas, ya que por décadas la salud infantil desde la perspectiva de las políticas de salud han estado focalizadas en estrategias destinadas a la reducción de las enfermedades infecciosas y la mortalidad infantil y en menores de 5 años (Kohn, Levav, Caldas de Almeida, Vivente, Andrade, Caraveo-Anduaga, Saxena & Saraceno, 2005).
Un informe de la OMS sobre recursos de salud Mental para niños y adolescentes (World Health Organization [WHO], 2005) puso de relieve la falta de servicios de salud mental para este grupo poblacional, a pesar que la mayoría de los países son signatarios de la Convención de los Derechos del Niño. Los programas bien estructurados de promoción y prevención en el campo de la salud mental son escasos o no han recibido suficiente atención en la Región de las Américas y no siempre están bien articulados con otros sectores de pertinencia particular, como el educativo por ejemplo (OPS, 2009).
El desarrollo de políticas públicas en torno a salud mental infantil debe considerar el complejo entramado de determinantes (biológicos, sociales y psicológicos) que afectan a los niños, niñas y sus comunidades y por ello se asume que el desarrollo de programas efectivos requiere de intervenir en los múltiples aspectos susceptibles de ser modificados (Molina, 2010).

Mental health can be defined as the state of well-being that enables individuals to improve their abilities, to manage the normal stress of life, work productively and fruitfully, and to make a significant contribution to their communities. The concept includes the idea of subjective well-being, autonomy, competence and acknowledging the developing ability to self-fulfill both emotionally and intellectually. These concepts apply to the individual, family and the community, and offer an overview of the context where people develop (World Health Organization [WHO], 2004).
Physical and mental health are inextricably linked, yet child mental health is not given the importance needed, despite the alarming figures in this matter (Pan American Health Organization [PAHO], 2009).
There is no true health without mental health. The relations between physical and mental components in health are broad and diverse. Mental disorders increase the risk of communicable and non communicable diseases, and contribute to intentional and unintentional injuries. Many pathological conditions also increase the risk of mental disorders and that co-morbidity not only makes help-seeking and treatment more difficult, but it also influences the prognosis (Prince, Patel, Saxena, Maj, Maselko, Phillips & Rahman, 2007).
When the mental health issue is circumscribed to the child level, the subject becomes even more complex, as for decades, child health policies have focused on reducing infectious diseases and infant mortality for under-five children (Kohn, Levav, Caldas de Almeida, Vivente, Andrade, Caraveo-Anduaga, Saxena & Saraceno, 2005).
A WHO report on mental health resources for children and adolescents (World Health Organization [WHO], 2005) highlighted the lack of mental health services for this population, although most countries are signatories of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Well-structured programmes for promoting and preventing mental health are sparse or have not been given the appropriate attention in the region of the Americas. Furthermore, they are not always well-articulated with other sectors of particular relevance, such as education (PAHO, 2009).
Developing public policies on child mental health must highlight the complex set of determinants (biological, social and psychological) that affect children and their communities. Consequently, it is assumed that developing effective programmes require intervening many aspects which are subject to change (Molina, 2010).

In order for you to decide whether you should agree to take part in this substudy, you should first understand enough about its possible risks and benefits to make an informed decision. An Ethics Committee approved this study. This is a group of experts who make sure that the rights, safety, and well-being of human subjects in a study are protected.

Source text - English Introduction and Purpose of the Study
You are currently participating in a clinical study to assess the ability of DRUG 627 to treat and control bleeding (effectiveness) in subjects with hemophilia A and to ensure that it is safe.
The purpose of this surgical substudy is to look at the effectiveness of DRUG 627 during surgical procedures and the safety of DRUG 627 during and after surgery.
Study Treatment and Procedures
Your study doctor will adjust your dose regimen based on the type of surgery, your health condition, and your pharmacokinetic (PK) data.
Prior to surgery you will be dosed with DRUG 627 in a manner similar to the preparation of any subject with hemophilia A with any factor VIII product before surgery. You will temporarily suspend participation in the main part of the study while undergoing preparation for surgery and also for some time afterwards, usually between 10 to 14 days.
Immediately before surgery you may be treated by bolus (single injection) or continuous infusion.
• By bolus: At least 48 hours prior to surgery, you will suspend participation in the main study. Just prior to surgery, a bolus dose of DRUG 627 will be administered. Treatment with DRUG 627 will be continued for a minimum of 10 days and then tapered off between 10 to 14 days based on your doctor’s judgment. After 14 days, if there are no complications or surgical considerations, you may resume participation in the main study.
• By continuous infusion: At least 48 hours prior to surgery, you will suspend participation in the main study. A bolus dose of DRUG 627 will be administered immediately prior to surgery. Following the bolus dose, continuous infusion will be started. The dose of the continuous infusion will be adjusted as required during and after surgery. Between 10 to14 days after surgery, if there are no complications or other surgical considerations, the continuous infusion will be discontinued and you may resume participation in the main study.

En la actualidad, usted participa en un estudio clínico para evaluar la capacidad (eficacia) del medicamento 627 para tratar y controlar el sangrado de los pacientes con hemofilia, así como de garantizar la seguridad de su uso.
El propósito del subestudio quirúrgico es analizar la eficacia del Fármaco 627 durante los procedimientos quirúrgicos, así como la seguridad de dicho medicamento tanto durante como después de la intervención quirúrgica.
Procedimientos y tratamientos del estudio
El médico del estudio ajustará su régimen de dosis según el tipo de intervención quirúrgica, su estado de salud y sus datos farmacocinéticos (FC).
Antes de la intervención quirúrgica, usted recibirá el fármaco 627 en una dosis similar al medicamento que recibe todo paciente que sufre de hemofilia A, junto con algún producto del factor VIII antes de la intervención. Mientras se prepara para la intervención quirúrgica, suspenderá temporalmente su participación en la parte principal del estudio y también por algún tiempo después, por lo general de 10 y 14 días.
Justo antes de la intervención quirúrgica, es posible que usted reciba una inyección (única) en embolada o en infusión continua.
• En embolada: En un mínimo de 48 horas antes de la intervención quirúrgica, usted suspenderá su participación en el estudio principal. Justo antes de la intervención, se le administrará una dosis en embolada del fármaco 627. I have a Master or Arts in English-Spanish Translation from Chile. I've been working for 10 years as a freelance translator and I I have professional translation mostly in Engineering, IT, Pharmaceuticals, Law. I have also served as a mid-day in-house translator at Grant Thornton Chile for the last 4 years and a half and earlier (2012) at SDL Chile, first as an In-House Translator and then as a Vendor.
Some of the agencies I have worked with include: Telelingua International, Icanlocalize, Centro Integral de Idiomas, A2ZGlobal Language Solutions, ContactChile Comunicaciones and only recently, Filigrana Traducciones.
