We Translate IT Professional Video & Computer Game Localization English-German
Dear Visitor,
you have found a professional translator with a university degree (see Education & Experience for details) with hands-on experience in localizing video/computer games (in-game dialogues, menus, manuals, box text, websites, newsletters etc.). I have been exclusively localizing video/computer games on a daily basis for more than 10 years, totaling more than 2,500,000 words. You can view a selection of my projects by clicking on the "Project list" tab or by clicking here.
I have gained a thorough understanding of video and computer games (this includes terminology, conventions, game mechanics etc.) by playing countless games myself. I started playing games back in 1984 (i. e. 35+ years of gaming experience) on a Phillips G7000 (Magnavox Odyssey²). Ever since, I have played countless games from virtually every genre on more than 15 game platforms. I have managed, worked in and successfully completed several game localization projects of up to 200,000 words.
I will be happy to provide you with my CV containing a list of recent projects upon request.
So if you want your localized game to be (at least) as good as the original, feel free to contact me!
Education & Experience
I graduated at Leipzig University's Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translatology (IALT), Germany, in April 2008 with the degree "Diplom-Übersetzer" (master-equivalent degree in Translation Studies).
I've been working as a freelance translator since 2004, translating from English to German and from German to English.
Prior to becoming a translator, I finished a 3-years professional training as IT-Systems Engineer at Siemens AG, Germany.
Subsequently I have also worked as part-time Lecturer in a translation module at the Department of German, University of Leeds, UK and as Language Consultant at a Leeds-based company working in the field of User Testing / Readability Testing of product information leaflets (PILs) for pharmaceutical products.
