Translating is my fourth career, and I bring to the task a wealth of experience from a long and varied professional life, which began in Sweden and continued - from 1970 - in the UK. For about 15 years I worked free lance, but nearly full time, commissioning and editing English language academic and semi-academic reports for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. I now specialize in translation of business documentation in the broadest sense, including legal contracts and agreements, human resources materials, marketing materials, company reports, etc.
My other specialty is translation into English of really difficult Swedish texts, academic or just old and hard to understand for a contemporary person. Subject areas here include all the humanities and social sciences, and I produce translations that are faithful to the original, and also accessible and readable. I am also happy to edit a professional level text, such as a journal article, that has been drafted in English, but needs tweaking to "read right".
After decades of senior professional work in the UK, English is now my "other" native language, but I still retain a sophisticated familiarity with Swedish, and translate just as happily from English to Swedish as from Swedish to English.
