English to Chinese: General Form of Judgment or Order General field: Law/Patents Detailed field: Business/Commerce (general)
Source text - English Whereas a civil action is now pending in the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court of Justice in English in which The Major and Burgesses of the London Borough of xxxx are Claimants and xxx Corporation are Defendants and in the said action the Claimants claim relief in respect of money due by way of a service charge within the meaning of section 18 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 owed to the Claimants under the covenants of a lease between the Claimants and Defendants dated 30 March 1987 for the premises situated at xxxx United Kingdom.
Under English Law, every presumption is made in favour of a foreign judgment. A judgment of a foreign court of competent jurisdiction is capable of recognition and enforcement in England. In setting limits on the enforceability of foreign judgments, section 50 of the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982 defines an overseas country as “any country or territory outside the United Kingdom.” Xxx really falls within this definition and a valid judgment of its courts will thus be treated the same way as would be the valid judgment of any other foreign court.
If an English court were faced with a valid judgment of the xxx court, on similar terms to the judgment sought in the presence case, it would recognize and enforce it.
Similarly, in relation to the Letter of Request in the present case, if a xxx court encourtered the same or similar matter requiring the commissioning of the courts of England and Wales to handle the matter, the courts of England and Wales would render the same degree of assistance.
Section 18 of Landlord and Tenant Act 1985,豁免被告人所欠的金钱,而用服务费代替。
Section 50 of the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982,对执行外国法庭判决的有关规范,有这样的解释:“外国” 的定义是 “任何在英国以外的国家或地区”。

After that she has to return to her own home because she has to look after her eight-year-old daughter. However, xxx’s home is close by, only about 500 metres away from the mother’s. The short distance allows her to visit her mother with good convenience. Because of the father’s illness in 2001 the mother and the elder sister could not attend xxx and xxx’s wedding which was held in the United Kingdom though.
The mother is the youngest of the five children of her parents (who passed away more than 30 years ago) -- three daughters and two sons. All siblings used to live in one house before. Two of the sisters and one brother however passed away. All the children of their siblings are grown up and some have grandchildren. Chinese to English: Police Witness Statement about a burglary General field: Law/Patents Detailed field: Law (general)
Translation - English I, Mrs. xxxxx, is of Chinese origin, born on xxxxx in China and lived in Hong Kong. I moved to live and work in the United Kingdom with my husband when I was 38 years old. I have four children who joined me and my husband from Hong Kong to live in the United Kingdom. I now live with my husband at xxxxxx, which is a three-bedroom flat on the first floor. xxx is a female helper who also lives with us. We run a Chinese take-away restaurant named xxxxxx on the ground floor of the same property. In spite of old age we still work hard because we want to support our son who has two children and needs money to pay up his mortgage.
When someone rang the door bell at about 11 a.m. on xxxx, I could not wake up soon enough to get to the door because I was still feeling very tired after a long day working the night before. I had pain on my feet. The door bell had rung for some time. When I opened the door, I saw a white male who is believed to be in his 40s, of medium height, wearing spectacles. He asked me whether any one named Paul lived there or in any other flats on the first floor. I do not remember what his spectacles looks like because I do not usually pay attention to details of inquirers. He might wear jeans but I was not sure. I told him there was no such person named Paul in my flat. Thinking back, I believed he was trying to probe into the situation of my flat before coming back to burgle.
I was asked to view the footage of the CCTV taken by the jeweller neighbour’s camera. I identified one of the faces shown on the footage who was the white male who asked me about a Paul in the morning of xxxx.
