Source text - English There is an old joke among economists that states:
A recession is when your neighbor loses his job.
A depression is when you lose your job.
The difference between the two terms is not very well understood for one simple reason: There is not a universally agreed upon definition. If you ask 100 different economists to define the terms recession and depression, you would get at least 100 different answers. I will try to summarize both terms and explain the differences between them in a way that almost all economists could agree with.
Translation - Polish Wśród ekonomistów krąży stary żart, który mówi:
Recesja jest wtedy, gdy twój sąsiad traci pracę.
Depresja jest wtedy, gdy ty tracisz pracę.
Różnica pomiędzy tymi dwoma terminami nie jest dobrze rozumiana z jednej prostej przyczyny: nie ma jednej, powszechnie uznanej ich definicji. Jeśli poprosiłbyś 100 różnych ekonomistów by zdefiniowali pojęcia recesji i depresji, otrzymałbyś co najmniej 100 innych odpowiedzi. Spróbuję streścić oba zapisy i wytłumaczyć różnice pomiędzy nimi w sposób, co do którego prawie wszyscy ekonomiści mogliby się zgodzić.

Czy reputacja może być dobra czy zła?

W dobie dzisiejszych możliwości wyboru różnych sklepów, banków itp., gdy mamy dużo możliwości to ten wybór przez, czy w oparciu o reputację jest teraz bardzo ważny. Ludzie starają się mówić co jest lepsze, gorsze czy tańsze i tak powstaje reputacja
Czy przychodzą na myśl firmy starające się świadomie budować, dbające o reputację?
Ja bym nie powiedział o konkretnych firmach, ale o tym, że im firma mniejsza tym bardziej jest skłonna do budowania reputacji. Większe, mające monopol w danej branży, przykładają mniejszą wagę do tego. 10 straconych konsumentów przez małą firmę a 10 przez wielką korporację to jest jednak spora różnica. Więc im firma mniejsza tym bardziej stara się budować reputację
A podsumowując reputacja to…
Najprostsza metoda wyboru danej organizacji na rynku biorąc pod uwagę nie tylko monopolistów. Bo bardzo ciężko jest wybrać… Coś o czym zostajemy poinformowani przez większą ilość osób. Pewna krążąca opinia.

What is coming to your mind when you hear the word reputation?
I associate it with such qualifying of a man or an organization that describes it being worth a trust. Reputation is created during many years. This is a principal factor that helps to make decisions which are taken, it counts when it about choice of this or different service.
What has an influence on reputation?
Truthfulness, legal policy, and also how long the company is at the market and the other consumers’ opinion, who have their own shares, or – like in the case of banks – an account in a given bank.
Can reputation be good or bad?
It can be this way or the other, we can have a bad reputation as an organization. It is an important factor in the moment of choice, where we have a dilemma in what to choose.
And how can we loose it?
We can lose it through because of many negative factors. If the consumers who are using a service are cheated, or because of legal tricks they are obliged to pay indemnities, etc. Usually because of a bad in-sight to the company’s services recipient.
Is reputation now more or less important than it was 10 years ago for instance?
In the present days, possibilities to choose different shops, banks and so on, when we have many possibilities, this choice being based on reputation we believe in is very important. People like to say what is better or worse, or cheaper, and this is how reputation is created.
Do you have in mind a company trying consciously to built or care about its reputation?
I wouldn’t talk about any particular company, but about the fact that the smaller company is the more it is prone to build is reputation. The bigger ones, with the monopole in a given branch, show less concern about this. 10 lost clients for a small company and 10 lost clients for a big corporation; this makes really a huge difference. So the smaller company is the more prone it is to build reputation.
And to recapitulate, reputation is…
The simplest method of choosing a given organization at the market without considering only monopolists. Because it is very hard to choose… Something about what we are informed by the bigger group of people. A certain opinion.
