Bio
I was born in northern Germany, near the North Sea coast but started living abroad at the age of 14. It all started with a Highschool year in the US in 1973. As soon as I had finished school in Germany (Gymnasium) I left for Paris, where I studied for Make-Up Artist. I was back in Germany for a short while to obtain the translator/interpreter certificate at The International Inlingua School for Languages in Kiel. Then straight back to Paris, where I ended up living for almost 9 years. A job took me to Amsterdam, where I lived until I decided to move to beautiful Bulgaria in October 2009.

From January 1997 until August 2013 I worked for Hewlett-Packard Netherlands B.V., initially as Support Technician providing printer support in 4 languages (English, German, Dutch and French) and from March 2006 as Project Manager in Knowledge Management and Business Process Engineering. This also involved reviewing and editing content on a daily basis, mainly in English but also for German content at times.

Since September 2013 I am working as full-time freelance translator, based in Bulgaria.

Translating for the European Parliament since January 2016. For the past 3 years (since 2019) I have mainly translated in the medical field, legal and IT.

I enjoy reading thrillers but also classical & modern literature, the weekly German ZEIT and Spiegel newspaper, horse riding (yes, I have 1 horse and 3 ponies :)), hiking with my 3 dogs and music. Occasionally I take in street dogs and try to find homes for them in Bulgaria as well as in western Europe. Thus far I have succeeded in re-homing at least 30 dogs.
