Bio

Dear Customer or Language Service Provider,

My name is Hadrien Beauvais. I am a French national living in the UK since Summer 2019, and an affiliate ITI member since 2020.

I
have been a localiser in the video game industry working near St Neots (Cambridgeshire) for nearly 2 years. My work involves translation and proofreading of the contents of upcoming video games.

Besides, I have graduated from a Master degree in Translation from the Open University since June 2023. To obtain my diploma, I chose to do a
translation project regarding the blockchain technology field. In short,
I have translated into French a part of a technical book (7,500 words)
entitled "Polkadot's for beginners". As I have really enjoyed the
translation, I have decided to translate the full guide (100 pages,
around 22 or 23,000 words).

I have been interested in translation and language since I graduated from Business School. At that time, I begin to work for blogs promoting Japanese culture by translating the subtitles of Japanese anime from English to French. I have also worked as a volunteer for a French blog called "Les Crises.fr" which comments worldwide news and geopolitics. I have done this "volunteer" work for about 5 years.

I understood that I could do translation activities like a hobby, and this also pushed me to go back to study at University from 2014 and 2017. Thus, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Applied Languages (English and Mandarin) with a major in professional translation.

About my professional experience, I have performed an internship in a translation agency in Marseille, south of France, for 5 months from April to September 2017. My role was to proofread texts translated in French. The fields related to these texts were aeronautics, finance, marketing, legal and also science (test of material resistance). In average, I proofread about 100,000 to 150,000 words a month. I have got also involved in translating from English to French some official documents such as diplomas, birth certificates, driving licenses and so on.

My second experience in translation was in Taiwan in late 2017. I worked for a German company specialised in the manufacturing of gaming products such as pc cases, docking stations, keyboards and so on. I was in charge of the translation from English to French of the website, the products' introductions and specifications, press releases and the information on the products' packaging.

Now, I have already, as a freelancer, performed some translation missions about video games content from Chinese/English to French given by translation agencies. I abide by deadlines, I am opened to a huge varieties of fields, I am
conscientious about the quality of my work. I think I could be a good
element in a team of translators.

Finally, in terms of hobbies and leisure, I like reading (news, novels and essays), playing video games (JRPG, Action/Adventure games with a lot of texts!), hiking and travelling.

I hope my introduction was not too long, but thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Best Regards,

Hadrien Beauvais
