İshalin birçok nedeni vardır. C vitamini veya magnezyumun fazla miktarda alınmasından kaynaklanabilir. İnsan ve hayvan sağlığı açısından en önemli sebepleri infeksiyöz hastalıklardır. İshalle beraber karın ağrısı, bulantı ve kusma da görülebilir. İshalin bazı özellikleri başka durumlarda da görülebildiği için ishalin tıbbî tanımı günde 200 gramdan fazla dışkı üretimini içerir.
İshal, kalın bağırsağın yeterince sıvı emmemesinden meydana gelir. Normalde, hem sindirim sürecinin bir parçası olarak, hem de sıvı içmekten dolayı, yemek bol miktarda suyla karışıktır. Dolayısıyla kalın bağırsağa varmadan önce sindirilmiş yemek esas olarak sıvı durumdadır. Kalın bağırsak suyu emerek kalan malzemeyi yarı katı bir hale getirir. There are many causes for diarrhea. Overdoses of vitamin C and magnesium can be among the causes. The most important causes with respect to human and animal health are infectious diseases. Abdominal pain, nausea and vomit may associate diarrhea. Since some symptoms of diarrhea can be observed in some other cases as well, the medical definition of diarrhea includes excretion of more than 200 g of feces per day.
Diarrhea is caused by insufficent liquid absorbance of colon. In normal circumstances, meals are mixed with ample amounts of water both due to a result of the digestion track and due to liquid consumtion. Therefore, digested meal before the colon is in liquid condition. The colon converts the food mixture into a semi-solid state through absorbing its water. If the colon is harmed or inflammated, water absorption is inhibited and the liquid feces is formed.

Many people were climbing this mountain, but the summit was not wide enough to harbor all of them. He just wanted to sit on a stone and breathe. His intention was to get up again after he was sufficiently rested and to continue on his way. He did not know if he could reach the summit. His only wish was to go up as far as he could, and to enjoy the view lying down where he could not climb any further.
