English to French: "La variation dans les écrits d'élèves de grande section d'école maternelle", Céline Guerrouache General field: Other Detailed field: Linguistics
Source text - English Cet article rend compte des variations dans les écrits de jeunes
scripteurs, dans le cadre de pratique d’écriture approchée. A travers
Translation - French This article reports variations in the productions of young writers
who were practicing invented spelling. Through the study of two
corpora of writings and comments of pre-primary school children, we
analyzed the diversity of produced spellings, taking into account the
metagraphic explanations given by the children to justify their
attempted writings.
We observed a great diversity of attempted spelling variants as well
as a relative homogeneity of employed procedures, especially in
phonography. These young writers discovered and used the
fundamental principles of written French well before mastering
instrumental reading techniques. This study presents a reversal of
perspective in which writing activities should precede learning how
to read.

English-French and French-English translator (text and subtitles/captions).
Specialization: arts and entertainments.
I mostly focus on translation projects related to movies, music, literature and video games, which I'm passionate about.
Still, I am open to all types of texts and videos, I appreciate the diversity of challenges.
Content
creators, filmmakers, bloggers, reviewers and artists of all kinds will
find what they're looking for here, whether you need a translation,
subtitles/captions, a transcription or proofreading.
I believe the
most crucial element of a translation is to preserve the meaning and the
human quality of your original text. That goes without saying, but I
often see translations give too much importance to the phrasing of the
original text (surely the result of an unchecked AI translation) and
subtitles that are cluttered and unreadable.
Since 2019, I've been
collaborating with a sociologist, which led to the publication of a
thesis for which I translated the abstract from French to English (see
“Publications” on this page). I've provided subtitles for a 29-episode drama series, a short documentary about artist Karl Monies and various YouTube videos. I also have experience in gaming and app store pages and have been trained in testing/proofreading a mobile game.
