I'm a professional translator (English - Arabic) from Egypt. I have a Licentiate from the Languages and Translation Faculty, Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt. I started my translation career in 2014. I translated several types of texts but my main experience lies in the medical field and the marketing field. Significant Projects

    1. Medical Websites

I had the privilege to work as a freelance medical translator for three prominent medical websites in the market. Texts included hospitals/clinics databases, reviews, medical researches, and health care articles, medical consent forms, medication package inserts, and use instruction reports.

    2. Health Campaigns

I participated as a medical translator and content creator for a youth initiative in Alexandria, Egypt to create health awareness campaigns, mental health awareness campaigns, and preparing checkup brochures for patients. 

    3. Travel Websites

I translated full websites providing travel services. The texts included information on different cities around the world, flight booking, hotel booking, transportation services, train trips, travel activities, and miscellaneous articles about travel.

    4. Safety Training Book 

I translated a book about basic safety measures prepared by a construction company for its Arab workers. The book included labor laws, safety measures, construction different dangers such as hazardous substances, explosions, fires, and prevention methods.

    5. Arabic Grammar Book 

I translated Arabic grammar books from Arabic to English. It included grammar rules lessons, Arabic reading texts, Arabic listening exercises, questions and answers and other TAFL content.

    6. Real Estate Websites 

I translated different real estate websites and articles related to rents, hotels, and property investment. 

    7. Fashion Projects 

I worked with different online fashion accounts to create and localize fashion content, ranging from blog posts to online sales and social media posts. I was also hired as a freelance translator to work indirectly with clients in the fashion industry.

Skills

Beside my translation skills, I developed over the years other auxiliary skills to provide the best service possible for my clients.

1. Research: I have excellent research skill, which helped me navigate through various translation projects in different subfields with ease, and assisted me in finding accurate terms, and picking the most suitable expression. 

2. Writing: My writing skill proved to be a great asset to my translation career as it enabled me adapt to the different styles, and tones on the source text and empowered me with the needed fluidity to recreate the text in the target language with a similar style and tone.

3. Knowledge: The thirst for learning more is a powerful method to grow in any career, and I believe it's more vital in the translation industry as it makes me more aware of the latest updates in the different translation fields, and prepares me for the different types of texts I may receive. Specifically if I'm translating renewable fields such as medicine and marketing.

4. SEO: Translating many websites gave me a growing attention to the different SEO tools and keywords to help my clients spread their message in their desired market and target audience smoothly.

5. Formatting: First impressions are important, and formatting grants me a great first impression, so I always make sure of it even without the clients' instructions.

6. Design: I took courses and workshops to develop the design skills necessary for many projects such as translating brochures, flyers, contracts, presentations, booklets, menus etc. So beside handling normal word files, I can also handle pdfs, sheets, guides, different image files, and the most common file types.

7. Project Management: I can handle large projects because I'm a very organized person with time management skills and problem solving techniques.

Translation Process

1. Reading: First, I start reading/skimming the document to make sure it's within my area of expertise

2. Instructions: Second, I check all the instructions, style guidelines provided by the client (if any).

3. Translation: Third, I create the first translation draft.

4. Research: Fourth, I conduct any needed research for terms, expressions, and better word choices.

5. Editing: I pay extra attention to the following areas while editing the first draft:

• Basic checks include spelling, typing errors, grammar checks, syntax errors, missing numbers, and missing punctuation. (I do this both manually and by using smart tools without compromising the privacy of the document to any third parties).

• Reviewing the text for any mistranslation or any literal translation.

• Based on the research I made and the style guidelines provided by the client, I recheck the terms I used throughout the text to make sure of the accuracy of the terminology and to maintain its consistency.

• I check the text for any culturally sensitive content I should change to suit the target audience and reread it to guarantee the fluidity of the meaning.

6. Formatting: I fix formatting/ design issues (if any).

7. Delivery: I deliver the agreed file type by the agreed deadline.
