I've translated everything from legal texts and contracts, instruction manuals (Brother's fax machines), labels (Kodak cameras)and internet sites to articles in magazines (one of them Playboy...). More recently documents regarding energy and wind power. Although I must state that my official native language is Swedish I have lived, worked and studied (got my BA Honours in Applied Languages, French and Spanish) in the UK all of my adult life. I consider my English to be superior to my Swedish and therefore prefer to translate INTO English rather than the other way around although I will of course translate into my native language as well. I am happy to supply short test translations and I would never take on any work I wasn't completely confident in doing in any case as I take pride in my work. I have translated on a very part time basis over the past 10 years but have now decided to do it full time. |
