I am translating a press release and the phrase styr/regler comes up as in "Koncernens konsultverksamhet erbjuder tjänster inom bland annat mekanik, el/automation, fastighet (VVS, el och styr/regler) samt miljöteknik."
Does anyone know the English equivalent?

control
"styr och regler" is a short form for "styrteknik och reglerteknik".
The former means "control in open loop" (such as when a robot is programmed to do certain preprogrammed movements), the latter is equivalent to "feedback control" (such as when a temperature is measured, then compared to a setpoint, the difference (control error) feeds a controller, which outputs the control signal to the process). Consequently, I would just say "control" for both. The term 'automation', which is a much more general term, is already mentioned in the sentence.

- an alternative is to say \"control engineering\", since that appears to be what the consulting company is delivering as a service.

control and monitoring
The best advice I can think of is to check with the 'Koncern' in question what their particular favourite phrase is.

Automatic Control
This field is mostly referred to as Automatic Control by researchers and professionals.("reglerteknik" is normally bundled together with styr- although from a strict engineering point of view there is a difference).
