Swedish term

aktiverats

Swedish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) financial reports
...aktiverats as product development costs.

I would say "capitalzed" as product development costs, but perhaps the author of this has a different term in mind with the use of the term "aktiverats"

capitalize

I think you are right, since product development costs would be expected to generate future income.

Ref 1: "capitalize about 20% of the product's development costs."

Ref 2: "(3) The accounting treatment of large expenses as part of a firm's assets. Thus, rather than treating an expense as a deduction from the income statement, it is treated as an investment and is expected to generate future income."

agree Christian Schoenberg : I agree - as in recognize an amount as an asset in the financial statements. See also Regnskabsordbogen (Dansk-Engelsk)

agree Larry Abramson : Aktivera here actually means to treat an expense as an asset, and that's what capitalize means.
