Discussion

Charles Ek Aug 19, 2015:
The case worker does his or her work under the dictates of family law. It's impossible to do the job without some understanding of the legal context.
Charlesp (asker) Aug 19, 2015:
family law case worker the problem I have with "family law case worker" is the "family law" part of it.

"family law" is something that a lawyer works with or specalises in, or a law student or even a case worker might study. But a case worker or social worker doesn't practice family law.

I don't get why "family law" is used here by the Swedish powers that be.

I presume You've found the term Charles warns against. As at (http://www.bfa.se/Filer/Draft program-EurAdopt Conference 23... ). But I can't vouch for your request ... 'official'.

(family law) social services case manager

Am working on a case now, and going with this. At least, as in my case, for court appointed 'familjerättssocionomer'. My view is that they are more than 'case workers' simply because they have a higher status (and greater responsibilities) here in the Nordics.

You'll find 'social service(s) case manager' which is what these people are (degreed social services case managers), and these ones simply specialize in family law cases.

family law case worker

Friends don't let friends use "secretary" for this one. ;-)

The glossary from the Swedish court system (at the link) uses "social worker, caseworker" for "socialsekreterare". I would split it into "case worker" but you will see the single-word version used as well.

neutral Deane Goltermann : Hmm, and the same publication has 'justitiesekreterare' as 'judge referee'! This person is more than a case worker, I'd say. But referee ...never heard of it. Not a bad reference

Having taken a look at the occupational requirements and job duties for a "familjerättssekreterare", I'm confident of my answer: http://www.aditrorecruit.com/External/OJCustomer3/Assignment...
