Hello lovely translators. Please note that I am not a Swedish>English translator but a PM, I just would like to get some opinions on whether a translation is correct:
The translator is saying that something like: "Unfortunately, but a bit nerdy"
However the client thinks, it should be: "Sorry, but a bit too bold"
Seemingly the issue isn't between 'unfortunately' and 'sorry', but mainly the correct translation of the word 'töntig'
I'm sorry i don't have any other context, but i would be very grateful for your opinions on this

: Not stupid - silly perhaps - but definitely nerdy.

Hello PM and all
You don't give much linguistic context and that is what we need. But given the 'arguments' of the translator and what the client says he wants plus the word in Swedish, 'eccentric' perhaps does a better all round job for all concerned as it has all the connotations that you seem to want

: Sorry SafeTex - "töntig" could translate to nerdy, corny, daft, awkward, clumsy, but NOT eccentric.

Yeah but I was trying to take into account what the client apparently wants (bold) and to suggest a compromise. 'Bold' does not fit in with the synonyms you list. Maybe the translator should speak to the client again?
