This is the only term I can find in an online search (excluding non-native English websites of course!). The mode switch on the tachograph allows the driver to select between: Driving Time; other non-driving Working Time; and Rest Time. There are numerous refs on the web if you search for "mode switch" tachograph.

In German it is called Zeitgruppenschalter, and is related to the tachograph. (One ref is on page 3 from the link below).

: A Google UK search for "time group switch" returns zero results so I would be cautious. Mode switch, however, seems to be a genuine English usage - but I do not know this field so it may mean something else!
