Translation - English CODE STRINGS
To translate code text strings, the world standard method for application translation - *nix – is used. This is the gettext technology which is fully supported by the PHP engine.
To indicate that a text string is to be translated, we must put it inside the function _(“”) so that the parser which extracts these strings can identify them. Also, calling this function ensures that the returned string will be the right translation for the current language.
To translate the strings, we use the internationalization wizard which groups the files that make up the project and requests information about the languages into which they will be translated. It then runs the xgettext program on the strings which extracts them and sends them to a file with a .po extension.
Once we have this file with the .po extension, we can use an editing tool called poEdit (or any other editing program that supports .po) which enables us to translate the stored strings and generate a binary file with a .mo extension. This .mo file is used by the PHP engine to translate the strings requested through the _(“”) function.

Source text - Italian 2.
Translation - English 2. Formal and probative value of electronic documents
The Digital Administration Code (Legislative Decree of 7 March 2005, No. 82, hereafter CAD), the basic legal text in the digitisation of documents for PA (Public Administration) and private agencies, defines the concepts of electronic document (as "computer representation of legally relevant acts, facts and data”), of electronic signature ("all data in electronic form logically attached to or associated with other electronic data, used as a method of electronic identification”) and digital signature (defined as "a special type of qualified electronic signature based on a system of linked cryptographic keys, one public and one private, which allows the owner through the private key and the recipient through the public key, respectively, to display and verify the origin and integrity of an electronic document or a set of electronic documents”).
For electronic documents the CAD defines an important tool, that of time validation, defined as the "result of the computer procedure which is used to attach a date and a time enforceable against third parties to one or more electronic documents". This time validation takes on, for electronic documents, the regulation of the means of computation of the date with respect to third parties, in a similar way to the provisions for paper documents: validation involves attachment to the electronic document of a digital "sign" that has the purpose of making certain and enforceable against third parties the date (and time) of the creation of the document

I am an IoL (UK) certified translator (Business = Merit; Science = distinction) specialising in business and finance, legal, IT, science and social science.
I have a first class degree in Spanish and Portuguese (Proz certified), with a distinction in oral Spanish, and my IoL translation qualification is in Spanish. As a translator I work from Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French and Catalan into English. I also hold a Masters in Translation Studies and Microsoft Certified Professional qualifications in database, web and windows application development (MCSD exam numbers 70-305; 70-316; 70-229) and the NPIA Advanced Excel for Analysts (Greater Manchester Police) - 2009.
I have an excellent command of my native language - English - and have published scholarly articles and book chapters in refereed journals on Spanish and Italian language, linguistics and identity and Spanish, Mediterranean and European Integration, Economic Policy and Monetary Union. See my CV for references to the relevant journals and books.
My professional background is firstly in academia (UK higher education) where I worked for ten years as a lecturer in Spanish and Portuguese and a research specialist in the economies of the Euro-Mediterranean countries. I then re-trained and worked as a manager in large public-sector (local authority) IT projects before moving into full-time translation work. These areas of work have given me an excellent background for development of translation expertise in IT, Business and Finance and Social and Applied Sciences.
In addition to CAT tools (Trados, SDLX) I am an MS Word, Excel and Access power user, and program in VB, VB.net, C++, T-SQL, HTML and JavaScript. I am fully equipped to undertake your localization work and do any debugging/testing or formatting work requiring familiarity with these languages.
