La session s’articulera en deux temps, selon un fonctionnement éprouvé par le passé.
Une première session sera consacrée au travail musical et scénique des chanteurs encadrés par le metteur en scène, le directeur musical, et le coach vocal, et présentera, en conclusion, un pasticcio de scènes enchaînées sous forme de show case de l’opéra, un spectacle léger mis en espace autour de 2 claviers qui donnera une claire idée de l’oeuvre, de sa vivacité et de son panache (session 1 à XXXX du 18 au 24 mai 2014, précédée d'un travail musical à XXXXX).
Une deuxième session poursuivra le travail scénique puis verra se joindre l’orchestre et se terminera par des représentations semi-scéniques (orchestre sur scène, costumes, accessoires, lumières) dans divers lieux : salles de concert, théâtre à l’italienne, et autres.

à propos de l'oeuvre :
Dans les premières années de sa carrière, dès 1772, l'activité de Cimarosa se partageait entre l'opéra comique napolitain et le Teatro della Valle à Rome. Dans ce dernier, on donnait principalement des œuvres courtes avec un petit nombre de personnages. Elles étaient divisées en «parties» plutôt qu’en actes, et qualifiées d’«intermèdes» , bien qu’étant des œuvres indépendantes. Parmi les plus grandes réussites figure L’Italiana in Londra (L‘Italienne à Londres), son premier grand succès.
L’Italienne du titre est une jeune Génoise arrivée à Londres sur les traces d'un noble anglais auquel elle avait été liée quelques années auparavant, liaison contrariée en raison de l'opposition de son père. A l'auberge où elle était descendue, il y a le marchands néerlandais Sumers, un homme sage et vertueux, entièrement consacré au travail, et un napolitain bizarre, Don Polidoro, au rire facile et crédule à l'excès (le fait d’avoir prétendu s’être rendu invisible grâce à la pierre héliotrope conduit à des situations franchement grotesques) ; le troisième homme est naturellement Milord Arespingh, plongé dans la mélancolie au souvenir d’un amour ancien. La rencontre entre les deux jeunes gens suscite des tensions et des malentendus, d’autant plus que Livia a pris une fausse identité pour ne pas être immédiatement reconnue. Quand les gardes envoyés par son vénérable père viennent pour arrêter l'italienne, l'histoire semble virer au pire, mais la réconciliation entre les deux amants dénoue l’imbroglio, et même Madama Brillante, la malicieuse maîtresse de l'auberge, peut s’unir à Don Polidoro et partir avec lui à Naples.

This edition will take place in two sessions, a format that has proven to be successful in the past.
The first session will be dedicated to intensive work on the music and blocking with the singers, under the guidance of the stage director, the musical director, and the voice coach. At the end of this session, the participants will present a pastiche of scenes in the form of an opera showcase with light staging and the musical accompaniment of two harpsichords, which will give a clear idea of the work, its vivacity, and panache (session 1 in XXXXX from May 18-24, 2014, preceded by some work on the music in XXXXX.)
The second session will delve more deeply into the staging of the piece and the singers will be joined by the orchestra, following which the participants will present a series of semi-staged performances (with costumes, accessories, lights, and the orchestra on stage) in several different venues, including a concert hall and an Italian-style theater.

About the work:
In the early years of his career, starting around 1772, Cimarosa's work was split between Neapolitan comic opera and the Teatro della Valle in Rome. In the context of the latter, he primarily presented short works with small casts, which were divided into “parts” rather than acts, and were classified as “interludes” even though they were in reality independent works. Among the most popular was L'Italiana in Londra (The Italian in London,) Cimarosa's first major success.
The Italian in the title of the work is a young Genoese girl, in London in search of an English nobleman she had been linked with some years earlier, before her father forced her to end the relationship. In the inn where she ends up, she meets the Dutch merchant Sumers, a wise and virtuous man entirely dedicated to his work, and a strange Neapolitan, Don Polidoro, who laughs easily and is exceedingly naïve (his claim to have been made invisible by a heliotrope stone leads to some situations that are quite frankly grotesque;) the third man is Milord Arespingh, plunged into the depths of melancholy by the memory of a former love. The meeting between the two young people causes some tension and misunderstandings, all the more so because Livia has taken on a false identity in order to avoid being immediately recognized. When the guards sent by her venerable father come to stop the Italian lady, the story seems to take a turn for the worse, but the reconciliation of the two lovers finally resolves the tangled mess, and even Madama Brillante, the malicious innkeeper, is able to marry Don Polidoro and leave with him for Naples.
