After having passed the exam as translator for English, Spanish and French, specializing on Economics I started my first career in 1975 as a translator at a machine builder's factory, focussing on machine tools (grinding machines). I started as a technical translator there and translated operating instructions, tender documents, parts lists, electrical documentation, leaflets and correspondence.
Later-on I was encouraged by my boss to study economics and in 1978 I passed the exam in economics.
I left the job in 1985, when I worked for 10 years for a machine trader, dealing in all types of machine tools. I had the position of an assistant to the general manager.
1995 I began my work as a freelance translator specialising in technical translations. In 2000 we changed the name to "Sprachenwelt GmbH". In 2012 I sold a part of the shares to gds, I am still active as general manager of the company-. The business grew and now 20 employees are working there, over 1000 freelancers are working for Sprachenwelt. I sold it in 2012 to gds AG. Since then I am again working as a freelancer. My expertise comprises translations and proofreading in technical translations and economics, of course, but I also engage in project management training and courses, as well as consulting in variouls linguistic processes.
I also have vast DTP experience and can work very efficiently with Apple MAC computers. I have many programs fopr MAC, like QuarkXpress, allIndesign versions, Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel Draw, Autocad, and many more.
The CAT tools I am using are Trados Studio , Across V6 and Transit.nxt |
