This section is more about 'us' than 'me', given that I work with my husband - a native speaker of the English language.
I am a native speaker of Croatian, born and educated in Croatia (I hold a master's degree in theoretical physics), with a strong interest in languages. I was offered work as a translator whilst still completing my studies and I discovered that I really enjoyed it.
Together with my husband, I spent three years working as a translator for a project documenting oral history in the former Yugoslavia. During this collaboration we were approached by other individuals and businesses. We have provided translations of documents for market leaders such as Siemens, Končar, Dechra Pharmaceuticals, Genera, non-governmental organisations for human rights as well as translations and proofreading of various contracts and notary public’s documents, tax and accounting reports, medicinal leaflets and academic texts.
Although educated in different fields (physics and international law, respectively), we were fortunate enough to discover that translation work appeals to our love of words, of reading and writing and satisfies our desire for continuous learning. We are now in love with the profession. It gives us the freedom to divide our time between Scotland, France and Croatia and we very much want to continue earning our living this way!
All my translations are proofread by my husband, who also does proofreading and editing work independently.
As well as a strong interest in technical and legal matters, we share a love of history - particularly that of the Balkan Peninsula.
I was awarded a 'pass at grade A' in the Cambridge Proficiency in English test in June 2014 and am currently studying French at the Sorbonne in Paris, hoping that one day I will also be able to work in that language too.
We are committed to providing accurate, high quality translations whilst respecting deadlines. We believe that researching and understanding the background to a translation is essential. Above all, we enjoy what we do.
