English to French: Chefchaouen General field: Other Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Source text - English This Moroccan jewel is the kind of place one discovers during their travel plans almost by accident. But once discovered, it is hard to leave and harder to forget. I first heard about Chefchaouen in the bustling city of Tetouan – a local taxi driver had convinced me that it was not to be missed, and he was right.
A maze of twisting alleyways and tiny lanes weave their way through Chefchaouen, lined with tempting shops and restaurants. The midday air is pungent with the smell of mint tea, kif (a major cash crop) tagines and coriander that wafts from a surprising number of rooftop cafés.
In many ways, this is a sleepy little town where no one appears to be in a hurry. I noticed local workers sitting languidly against the blue walls, smoking and chatting with their fellow residents.

The obsession of the Indian film industry, especially Bollywood, with foreign locales is not unknown. Switzerland, London and USA are now passé and Bollywood has now got addicted to African flavours. Hindi cinema’s dream merchants look for creative ways to narrate their stories and new destinations add a novelty factor to the narrative of a movie.
Bollywood, undoubtedly, plays a role in influencing tourism inflow to the countries featured in Indian blockbusters. While most of it seems to be a ploy to entice audiences, the choice of a foreign location is dictated by mutually beneficial budgetary and business concerns. Stressing on the role of commerce in this understanding, producer-director Anurag Basu says, “Filmmakers today are experimenting creatively and with the option of destinations opening up faster than ever before, it has become a major plus for them. For example, I wanted to shoot portions of my movie, Jagga Jasoos, in Morocco and Kenya but I was unsure of the logistical support. It was only after my team got a go-ahead from the concerned authorities that we went ahead with the shooting schedule.”
A majority of decisions are dependent on incentives, tax concessions, free stays, visa process facilitation, even countries showing interest in bearing a part of the production cost where the movie crew intends shooting. “Most countries present tax concessions in the form of VAT refund to the tune of 10-20 per cent, depending on the location and the amount of budget spent there. South Africa, incidentally, gives a 30 per cent rebate,” he adds.

RECYCLING IN THE UC : PETER’S EXCHANGE
Alright, so here we are, I’m Dr. Morton and this Tom
Tom: hi
And we are with Chris Kopf who runs an organization called Peter’s exchange or PCI. The goal of Peter’s exchange is to deal with all the waste that comes out the campus. So what we want to do is ask, I’ll ask you Chris, Please can you tell us a little how Peter’s exchange works, some of the stuff?
Chris: Yes, what we are is anything not of use to the campus, we pick up and bring it here and try to sell it the public or back in to the campus in different departments. Anything from computers, office furniture, lab equipment, anything that has value to someone, we are trying to sell it as oppose to putting it straight into the e-waste recycle stream.
Ok
Chris: What we do we pick up items out of campus free of charge, and we bring it here, we try, and again like I said we try to sell it to the public first. We do sell and we return back 65% of the profit to the partner that gave us the item. So when we sell something for a lot of money, the partners in turn get a good return on their item.
Ok. Great
Chris: And what else, we offer free electronic waste collection which is going around the campus picking items that we can sell. And many that we can’t, which we just set aside for electronic waste recycling.
Ok can you show us around some of the stuff you have, probably some of the items?
Chris: Yes, pretty much as you see here we have a collection of everything, we have file cabinets, desks, prop benches, we have a series of chairs with desks and guest chairs we have a couple of interesting things. Right here, we have a Provovelo vehicle. He is just…
… cool. If you take the glass work I think it will fit a giant steel. Can we use it for that?
Chris: well, it can be used for that, but as in scientific purpose it’s along this line tho’. It’s not too far from…
Just made it sound different. It’s scientific?
Chris: …it’s not too far from what it looks like.
Ok, what’s on this side.
Chris: We have…
What is that… What is a power supply for?
Chris: This is a power supply… a laboratory power supply.
Ok
Chris: For what? You got me.
Right?
Chris: many of the items in here, I would have no clue for they are there for. There are some… I can tell what it is for. It’s stereotaxic . It is kind of hard to imagine… let’s see… put this right here where your right hand is, and it will do a lot of brain recording.
Oh my Goodness
Chris: so It’s kind of interesting, a lot of cool things.
So, what kind of information technology you have in here? I saw a laptop back there and there is a printer, what… What are the things that have a computer in or around them?
