Hello, and welcome to my page.
Instead of a long boring CV, here are a few facts that I'd like to share with my new/future clients:
1) I've worked on both sides of the translation industry - as a project manager/coordinator (5+ years), and as a freelance translator/editor/subtitler (since 2005).
2) I have a vast amount of experience in film translation and subtitling (turn-key) in both Russian and English. Since 2010, I've subtitled hundreds of works, working directly with film creators, producers and distributors.
3) If you've been struggling to find a translator/subtitler who is comfortable working with conversational English / Russian, I'm the person you've been looking for. It's fair to say that idioms, cultural references, jokes, wordplay etc. tend to either get lost in translation, or get mauled by academically trained pros. This is especially critical when working with films, cartoons, TV shows, screenplays, blogs, social science articles etc.
4) I work with a wide variety of subjects and styles. I am very detail-oriented, attentive, and thorough when it comes to research.
5) I spent part of my life (7 years) living, studying and working in the US, then chose to move back to St. Petersburg, Russia. Since then I have been bilingual in both my professional and personal life. I keep both languages alive and up-to-date.
