I have been a freelance translator for almost 18 years now, and have been translating for most of my
career. I began as a computer graphics specialist, working first in London and
then around Europe and particularly in France. I have also worked as a bilingual
assistant, learning a variety of skills and tools and working in a wide range
of professional sectors including local council, aeronautics,
marketing, education, industry, commerce… I also did a stint as a qualified English teacher, before returning to freelance
translation.

Some of my more recent clients include ADEO (Leroy Merlin), Ortec, Université de Lyon, Energy Cities and
LVMH.

I read a lot - current affairs and novels - which enables me to
keep my finger of the pulse and feed my interest in words, language structures, communication and storytelling.

As a translator I often work on corporate communication, web
and editorial content, where it is
important to take into account the tone and to understand the message, similar to a process of transcreation, rather than producing a literal translation. I also enjoy technical translations where a degree of online
research is involved. In addition, I provide editing, proofreading,
transcription and subtitling services.
