Source text - French Une nouvelle mouvance populaire de protestation et de revendication s’est déclenché, suite à la mort tragique d’un jeune vendeur de poisson Mohcin Fikri, broyé dans une berne à ordure, en essayant de récupérer sa marchandise confisquée par la police le 28 octobre 2016 à Al Hoceima. Cette mouvance dite le « Hirak du Rif » (terme en arabe qui signifie « mouvance » ou « mobilité ». Al Hoceima, le lieu de l’incident représenta depuis lors l’épicentre de manifestations et de sit-in. C’est une ville côtière sur la méditerranée. Située au nord-est du Maroc, enclavé au milieu des montagnes du Rif, tant marginalisée durant plus de quarante ans, sous le règne du roi Hassan II (1956-1999). Les images filmées de l’incident (Mohcin Fikri, broyé dans la berne à ordures) ont été diffusées en live sur les réseaux sociaux. Les habitants de toute la région indignés par ces images. Ce qui a suscité, ensuite, de plus en plus de manifestations et de sit-in, à travers plusieurs villes du Maroc, dont la capitale Rabat. Translation - English A new popular protest movement known as “Hirak Rif” (Arab for “movement”) was triggered following the tragic death of Mohsin Fikri, a young fishmonger crushed by a garbage truck on October 28, 2016 while trying to retrieve his fish that police had confiscated in the city of Al Hoceima. The city has been the epicenter of protests and sit-ins ever since. A coastal city on the Mediterranean in northeastern Morocco tucked into the Rif Mountains, the region was marginalized for over forty years under the reign of King Hassan II (1956-1999). Live footage of the incident (Mohsin Fikri, crushed by a garbage truck) was shared across social media and caused outrage throughout the region, igniting ever more protests and sit-ins across several Moroccan cities, including the capital Rabat. A wide range of national and international press coverage ensued, and cyber activists descended live on the scene.
